La Tania / Three Valleys Charity Day - The History...
The massive La Tania Charity Day (now renamed 3 Valleys Charity Day) in aid of cancer related charities in the UK and France takes place in April every year.
Starting in 2002 and inspired by season worker Dan Provost who had recently lost his mother to cancer there's historically been fancy dress, live bands, a BBQ, outside bar, raffles, auctions, silly games, Harley Davidson rides, the annual egg eating competition, the Saisonnaires Poll Winners and The La Tania Charity Ball. We also had a float race down La Troika piste in La Tania and in the first year a Chinese Downhill!
The money raised has been split between the Sebastian's Action Trust (a respite home for terminally ill children and their families in Hampshire, England) and the Ligue Nationale Contre le Cancer (the French Cancer Research Charity).
Since 2012 the event has taken place in Méribel Village for a safer, more organised event with more room and security for everyone to have a great day - a separate cordoned off area with toilet facilities, security staff, marquee / beer tent, comedy, dance tent, a covered stage, professional PA, security staff and transport services to Méribel & La Tania / Courchevel provided.
2014 saw headline act The Dub Pistols added to the local bands line up and they returned again in 2015 along with Radio 1 & 2 DJ, Jo Whiley. 2015 saw more food & drink outlets added, a second stage and a VIP Champagne bar/lounge introduced.
2015 also saw a La Tania Family Charity Fête on Easter Monday in La Tania which raised €5,500 and a return to the original La Tania roots with BBQ, Kids Games, Easter Egg Hunt, Ski Race and a chilled out atmosphere involving the whole village. Family Fête Thank You Letter
The total amount raised by the Charity Day events in 2015 was €36,000
2016 beat the record and raised over €40,000.
2017 saw another increase with €45,000 raised.
2018 topped €50,000 amazing!
The total amount raised by the Charity Day events from the locals, workers, businesses and visitors to The Three Valleys now stands at over quarter of a million Euros - well done to everyone involved - the organisers, staff, crew, volunteers, performers, all those behind the scenes and most importantly all the people who supported the event, bought food, drink, raffle tickets and merchandise. Thank You All!

La Tania Charity Day 2009 - Wednesday 15th April
Charity Day Message From Sandy:
Latest Totals: Tim raised 14,000€ through the Ski Lodge , The Ball at the Taiga and The BBQ at LDV. Through the sponsored walks, all the events on the day , T-shirts , curries, tartiflette, BBQ etc we made 11,000€ - so a massive total of 25,000 Euro's were raised for the two charities
There were the usual fantastic efforts from the likes of the Walls, Telemark, Tourist Office and everyone one on the 'Roll of Honour' list but the smaller things stood out for me like the effort with the Troika and Mount Cook challenges, the Marmottons Restaurant hunting out Nico to make a donation, BYS donating their playing fee and the Harley boys putting in their usual 100%, plus of course all the amazing cakes.
The Mayor turning up to open it, representation from both Charities and a subsequent write up in the 'Dauphine Libere' newspaper shows how far we have progressed. It's an amazing effort and congratulations to everybody . It is the best yet - Now all we have to do is beat it next year!!!!!!
LOVE YOUR WORK Sandy.

Special mention to the guys cleaning up first thing on Thursday morning in the pouring down rain - The Ski Lodge Staff and La Tania Commune guys really putting the effort in, there's a lot to clear up after an event like this, without them this couldn't happen. La Tania Charity Day 2008 - Message from Sandy October 2008
I would just like to let you know the total that we have made for the 2008 Charity day. It was a massive total of €19,348 with €800 still owed ...so if everyone pays we would have cracked an incredible €20,000, a fantastic effort from everyone.
Over the last 7 years over €100,000 has been raised by your efforts. There are too many people to thank but a special thank you to Tim and Debbie at the Ski Lodge, Dodgy Phil for sorting out the T shirts, the Tourist Office and staff for all their efforts, Dave Jordan and the bands, all the crew that contributed to the food and everyone who turned up on the day and of course the Harley Davidson crew.
The money raised will go to French Ligue Contre Cancer, Sebastians Action Trust (building homes for children with Cancer) and the Méribel Red Nose. I have attached a page of the Sebastian's Trust Magazine which has an article about the day.
Sorry it has been so long to announce the total. Love your work... Sandy.
