21st - 25th October, Olympia, London
The Metro Ski & Snowboard Show hits London Olympia from 21st to 25th October with all the usual fun and games. The unofficial La Tania reunion kicks off around mid-afternoon on Saturday 24th in and around the Zillertal Bar, Three Valleys Bar or the Gigloo Bar - Later it's off to the Natives Party...
Full details of the show below and as usual we've got some pairs of tickets to give away...
This years simple question: HOW MANY SKI LIFTS IN THE THREE VALLEYS SKI AREA?
+/- 5% as arguments rage over magic carpets, beginners lifts & the rope tow near the Méribel Altiport!
COMPETITION NOW CLOSED - We reckon 183 is a good answer, but beginners magic carpets, the odd rope tow and hotel access lifts cause the issues... Note that there used to more lifts but longer, faster and higher capacity lifts have increased the skier capacity while reducing the overall number of lifts. Still loads compared to just about anywhere else in the world though!
Congratulations to Sue, Matty, Joe, Keith, Roseann and Denise who all won pairs of any day tickets to the Ski Show - check your email!

The small print: pairs of tickets will be drawn out at random for correct answers, winners emailed for their address and tickets posted out, competition closes on 15 October 2009 and judges decision is final, no arguments etc...
Metro Ski and Snowboard Show 2009
Alpine Fun for a Fiver - 21st - 25th October, London Olympia
The Metro Ski and Snowboard Show returns to London Olympia this year, with a host of new show features, including an indoor arena with real snow, Après Ski entertainment and a credit crunching ticket offer, with entry costing less than un Grand Bier dans Les Alps (although we were paying as little as 3€ a pint in La Tania last season).
For the first time, visitors will be able to access all areas of the winter sports spectacle from as little as £5 when buying tickets for the opening day. So, whether you’re a St Moritz Saisonnaire, a Val d'Isere virgin, or just looking for an exciting family day out, the Ski and Snowboard Show is your winter wonderland of choice this October.
Hang Time:
At the centre of this year’s show will be the legendary 40ft kicker, where visitors can watch the crème de la crème perform gravity defying tricks. Both the British Snow Tour Championship and the London Ride competition return, showcasing some of the world’s best skiers and riders as they battle it out for big air.
Styling it out:
Mashing up next season’s snowsports apparel, high fashion and show stopping choreography is what the Brand Arena does best. And it’s back with even more iconic brands including Bonfire, Westbeach, Faisse, Skins and Salomon all launching their winter collections in a visually explosive catwalk show that’s sure to inspire your winter wardrobe.
Getting away from it all:
If this year’s show has inspired you to jump on a plane and head for the mountains, then the World Resorts Village is your next stop. The W.R.V. plays host to a wealth of tour operators and independent experts all on hand to offer advice and guidance to ensure your next winter holiday is an unforgettable experience. While you’re there, be sure to take a break and have a drink at the 3 Valleys Resort Bar.
Global grub:
If it’s delicious food you’re after, head to the World Food Kitchen and go on a culinary tour of the globe without leaving the capital. Mouth watering delights from France, Austria, Italy and as far afield as Japan will be sure to satisfy even the finest of palates
Chill-axing:
A new word for a new area of the show! The Zillertal Après Ski bar comes to the 2009 Ski and Snowboard show, allowing visitors to chill and relax in style, soaking up an Alpine vibe in the heart of London Town. The legendary Gigloo – a gig in an igloo – also returns with a host of up and coming bands and entertainers. The Gigloo will also be featuring live stand-up comedy, from the likes of Andrew Maxwell and his Full Mooners.
Board Riders Heaven:
Taste the powder and enjoy your first off piste run of the season with some inspirational talks, films and guidance from mountain experts. You can also check out the latest snowboarding gear as core snowboard brands showcase their 09/10 kit and give visitors the opportunity to talk to professionals about how to choose the right board and essential equipment.
