La Tania Bars – latest updates and opening nights

Pub Le Ski Lodge opens Sunday 29th November with Sunday Roast Dinner
for the locals. Then on Friday 4 December is the opening party with
Bring You Sisters playing (if they survive those Swedish girls –
they’re currently on a tour of Scandinavia). A few touch ups in the
pub to freshen things up, quite a few new staff this year and a
further heated full size parasol on the bottom terrace.

La Taiga opens on Thursday 11th December, once again with a Bring Your
Sisters inspired party. A new, smart terrace out the front has been
built and they’re redoing the facade and signage etc.

Hotel Telemark is up for auction on 27th November – news of that when
we hear and of what will be happening there this season.

Chrome Bar is in a race before the snow comes down to complete the
terrace and extension out on to the piste. No opening date confirmed
yet.

Hotel Montana news of the bar & restaurant opening is expected any day
– will be posted as soon as we hear.

Meanwhile over in Meribel Village, Ania will be opening Lodge to
Village on Sunday 6th December (obviously) with Bring Your Sisters.
Further along in Meribel proper most of the bars have got together to
offer a Happy Hour Week long promotion with cheap prices from 12-18
December to kick off the season. Should be similar to La Tania prices
then…

La Tania Residents News….

Hot off the press…! There’s talk that the powers that be are trying to get
Sky TV cabled into the town. It’s an idea in its infancy but if it works at
least it’ll remove all of the Sky dishes popping up everywhere… Guilty as
charged your honour!

Not such exciting news… They’ve changed the carpark entry/exit sensors in
the main parking underneath the Tourist Office this afternoon. If your car’s
in there now then it’ll be in there for some time to come! New keyfobs are
being sent out tomorrow… Fingers crossed they’re not lost in the post!

Christiana been tarted up too – see pic

Our Ski Blog is now iPhone, Touch and Android Mobile optimised

Thanks to the WPtouch WordPress plug-in the blog can be viewed on your mobile quickly and easily. The iPhone is quickly becoming compulsory in La Tania along with Dakine backpacks and Eira clothing – we’d be interested to see what happens on Blackberrys and Windows Mobile devices too.

Just go to latania.co.uk/blog and it auto formats.

All our snow reports, what’s on and news items will get posted here throughout the season along with live pics as they happen. To contribute to the blog along with the La Tania locals please email toffa@latania.co.uk

New La Tania Faces at Brasserie de l’Ours Blanc in Courchevel 1650

Ex-La Tania workers Jeremy, Nick, Dore and Michelle will be working in the "Brasserie de L’Ours Blanc" over in 1650 this season – the promise of Saisonnaire prices, Happy Hours and Live Music for those who make it over that way.

With 1650 having Le Bubble, Rockies, Signal, Space Bar and Katies La Boulette there’ll be split decisions for that lunch time session – or a bar crawl…

First Day Skiing in Val Thorens today

Excellent first day of skiing in Val T today. Pistes
were in great condition and the off piste was lovely according to
Andrea (on skis) and fast on my new Lib Tech banana board.
4 lifts were open – Cascades, Roc, Plein Sud, Peclet. Great sunshine
in the morning but became overcast after a great tartiflette lunch up
the mountain. After the first few snow flakes were spotted we
skidaddled out of there because I hadn’t got snow tyres on my car yet.
Great day out – can’t wait for the season to start here in La Tania !

Snow outlook for the week ahead

After the fantastic early snow conditions which saw Val Thorens open a week early and a great pic of Combe Pylones off Saulire from the lift company workers (below) it looks like a mild week ahead.

Most of the snow below 1800m has disappeared as predicted, but it is only mid November and things should cool down by next weekend with some more unsettled weather.

Higher up however the base is starting to form and there’s a decent amount of cover. Some snow cannons have been in operation higher up and some mounds now appearing, lower down there have been some tests but they’re not going to be getting in to full flow until the temperatures cool down, hopefully the last week in November.
