Val Thorens & Orelle: 2026 vs 2027 piste maps compared
Val Thorens & Orelle: 2026 vs 2027 piste maps compared
What has changed on the Val Thorens and Orelle piste maps for winter 2026/27? We compared the official 2026 Val Thorens map, the separate 2026 Orelle map and the 2027 Val Thorens map, checking the named lifts, pistes and ski areas rather than just the artwork.
2027 piste map: differences highlighted

2026 and 2027 maps side by side

1. Orelle included on the main map
For 2027 the Val Thorens map includes a substantial Orelle inset, showing the Orelle valley and its connection to Val Thorens. This makes it easier to see the wider linked ski area in one document. It is a cartographic change, not a new lift or newly opened connection.
2. Orelle lifts and pistes: no confirmed additions on the maps
Comparing the 2026 Orelle map against the 2027 inset, the same principal lifts are shown: Orelle (OR1), Orelle-Caron (OR2), Rosaël (OR3), Peyron (OR4), Bouchet (OR5) and Marmottons. Familiar runs including Peyron, Bouchet, Coraïa, Lory, Gentianes, Mauriennaise and Combe Rosaël remain labelled.
3. Val Thorens: familiar lift network retained
The 2027 map continues to show Péclet, Plein Sud, Pionniers, Cascades, Lac Blanc, Moraine, Portette, Thorens, Grand Fond, Plateau, Cime Caron, Caron, Cairn, Moutière, Boismint and Plan de l’Eau, among the existing lifts.
4. Ski and fun areas
The VT Fun Ride, Family Park, VT Park, JBL Line, JF Chapuis skicross and Cosmojet are all represented in both editions.
5. Map layout and visitor information
Some of the legend and visitor-information elements have been repositioned to accommodate the Orelle inset. This is a design change rather than a change to the pistes. Both editions use the VT and OR lift-numbering system.
The verdict
Evolution rather than revolution. The 2027 maps make the Val Thorens–Orelle area easier to view together, but very little differences other than that.
