More Snow Coming But Then Some Sun? Forecast For Next Week

SnoWatch Friday 28 February 2014 – More Snow Coming!
Consistent weather fronts keep coming with snowy days followed by sunny days – perfect skiing and boarding conditions! Wednesday night saw up to 25cm of fresh snow high up and clear weather on Thursday morning led to another one of those greatest days of the season!

Clouds rolled in on Thursday afternoon and around 10cm of new snow overnight freshened things up once again. Clearer skies on Friday morning but plenty more snow is due later on Friday and then in to Saturday. Sunday is looking to be the classic Blue Bird (sun and powder) day but then another system due in later on Monday could bring a really decent amount of snow if the projections are correct. Temperatures getting much colder next week too with further snow showers and some sun on and of through to mid-week.

Outlook towards the end of next week is that a high pressure system may start to dominate the weather patterns (stopping those continuous fronts coming over the Atlantic) and we’ll see a lot more of settled weather for several days with sunshine, milder temperatures and some long terrace lunches! A bit far out at the moment but certainly starting to look that way.

School Holiday Tips: Ski early, ski through lunch / lunch late, ski 1650, ski La Masse, ski Folyeres in the middle of the day – avoid bottlenecks at peak times of St Martin 2, Biollay, to/from 4th Valley and look for alternatives (Rhodos / Loze back from Méribel rather than Saulire / Pas du Lac and Plantrey rather than Coqs / Chenus (or drags) depending on queues – and remember free buses too if stuck in Le Praz for example, plus the free Ski Bus from Méribel to La Tania starts Mon 17/2 until 14/3 (Mon to Fri only). Departs Méribel 10:35 14:35 17:35 19:35 All Free Ski Bus Timetables
