Decent spike on the GFS Wigglies – looking good for significant snow

Dear Ski Lodge – please leave the terrace all set up, putting all the chairs and tables away will curse the snowfall…

MS_645_ens

Top lines are temperatures from several differen forecasting models (red is the average over the years). Bottom line is forecasted precipitation (no lines at all for the last couple of weeks!)

Could be some rain at first low down but not enough to worry about. Front should hit La Tania around noon Thursday. Some very unsettled weather around Christmas too – a bit far out but a cold and snowy outlook.

  1. Unfortunately your chart is for about 60km to the SW, far less precipitation in La Tania area today, probably a few cm overnight at best. A nearer chart would be one for 45.5, 6.5 degrees if you can get one.

  2. Thanks Dave will pass this on to my weather geek. I don’t think there are any “half” degree ensemble charts of this type. I just looked at 46 / 7 and there didn’t appear much difference there. Fingers crossed for a little snow overnight then.

  3. I hope this links work, but this site lets you produce charts too decimals of a degree, i think this should be nearest to La Tania.

This also shows the vagries of these charts, because this one also showed significany precipitation for yesterday and this morning. I suppose in the mountains one side of the valley can have totally different weather to the other, very unpredictable. Also shows the value of on the spot reports like your blog!
