A hot & sunny day today, maybe 20C. Stay high & North facing!

Should be a quiet Saturday ski today in warm sunshine. Stay high and on North facing aspects where possible.

Pic shows how La Tania’s main resort run, the blue Folyeres piste is North facing and many areas remain in shadow for large parts of the day due to the trees.

Aspect can often be more important than height in keeping the snow (especially when on groomed, snow cannoned pistes). The Mur run for example is over 2000m but has direct exposure to the sun for many hours during the day and is usually one of the first pistes to close above Courchevel 1850.

Similarly the Pic piste down to Meribel from Col de la Loze suffers early closure even though it is around 2000m high.
