Update on piste conditions in Three Valleys

Conditions becoming more and more hard packed and icy spots in high traffic areas. That said the pisteurs doing a good job and snow cannons have meant some runs being surprisingly fine like down to Meribel Village end even the runs down in to Mottaret which are usually icy aren’t that bad. The black down to Mottaret from the top of Saulire to be avoided by the way! (or it needed to be on Sunday). Still 95% of runs open so plenty of skiing available.

High up and runs not too steep are generally best options. Creux good and even the black Suisse and M runs ok from Saulire when groomed.

Good fast runs for a blast that are usually fine are Biollay and down to Pralong lift – great snow there over the weekend. Also above 1650 was pretty good. Was over to VT on Saturday and it was pretty good in the main over there – again, some of the steeper runs iced up more. In general the Meribel area seemed better than Courchevel last week but seemed to get worse this week – Courch grooming seems better maybe this week! Used the “sunny route” home down the Belleville Valley then over to Meribel, it was all pretty decent and enjoyable skiing. Didn’t get over to La Masse or 4th Valley – would guess La Masse is more icy. Definitely worth getting up for first lift (get there before 9 not at 9:15) and enjoy the corderoy – hit the left hand track to Chenus from Lac Bleu – Chenus is another top run for a blast or 2 (via Plantrey chair) first thing. Folyeres spot on too first thing but was pretty icy by close of play Wednesday (not as bad as it used to be in years gone by before the snow cannons of course though). Not sure what effect the sun and warmer temps by the weekend will have – could be Spring Snow though!

Go early, go hard, late long, long lunch, get in early for Apres I reckon…
