In to the last 2 weeks of the season for the Courchevel and Méribel ski areas (Val Thorens is open right until the 11th May!) and some lower and sun exposed runs are now closed. Folyeres beginning to show some patches of earth lower down especially late in the day but still being groomed every night and wide & complete cover for 95% of the run down to resort. Green still open too but the red run to resort from the Bouc Blanc lift is closed.
Other main lifts closed now include Coqs, Aiguille de Fruit and Forêt from Le Praz (the latter 2 closed forever as they are replaced next season).
Higher up there is still some fantastic season and slopes above 1650 and anything remotely North facing is good especially early on (top of Bouc Blanc perfect when hit at the right time for instance) - Remember the piste maps face South unlike "normal" maps!
Many mountain restaurants will close this weekend - it's The Folie Douce closing party today - but La Tania's own Bouc Blanc Restaurant will be staying open until the very end on 25 April (probably the only place on the mountain open by then!). We'll have details of more closing dates and closing parties up soon.
Weather for the week ahead looks warm and sunny from Sunday onwards after some cloud about at the weekend. So some great Spring skiing available and transformed snow off-piste can be wonderful, almost like skiing powder when at the right altitude, aspect and hit at the right time of day - certainly worth getting up early and getting a guide for. More on the weather and skiing in a special celebrity video ski report soon...
