Food Shopping
Carrefour (which was Hyper Champion but is still referred to as Provencia by the veterans) in Moûtiers is the place for a big grocery shop, it's 20 minutes away on a good run. Check out the exotic foods of the world section – Marmite, McVities Biscuits, Sharwoods Curry Sauce, Heinz Baked Beans, Walkers Crisps, PG Tips, Californian Gallo wines etc!
The Sherpa Supermarket in resort is not too expensive considering it’s up the mountain and they now stock some of those exotic foods too! It has all the essentials, fresh fruit and veg, lots of booze and useful items from electrical adaptors to Christmas trees in December. Hot roast chickens available every evening too. Opens at 8am, Closes at 7:30pm. Also closed from about noon until 3 (so you can't get food at lunch time!) and remember plastic bags aren't free in France!
La Saucisse Savoyarde run by La Tania locals Kirsty & Bruno have the shop / deli next to Le Farçon restaurant, it's the place to go for picnic lunches, hot bacon sarnies, homemade meals to go, great lasagne, cheeses, charcuterie, gift ideas, Genepi and wine, English bacon, sausages and tea plus a full pizza takeaway menu! Check out the website at www.lasaucissesavoyarde.com
The Bakery now stays open all day during the main part of the Winter season and as well as all types of bread and croissants, also has a range of cakes, snacks and delicacies.
Snow Food (Formerly The Pit Stop) is a sandwich & pizza takeaway with some tables available on their terrace. Open for lunch and evening.

Ski Shops
We have four Ski & Snowboard outlets - Ski Higher (Twinner), Ski Wave (Ski Set), AlpiSki and Intersport. We always use Ski Higher who stock all the latest ski & board gear from Salomon, Nordica, K2, Dynastar, Rossignol, Scott etc and have clothing & accessories from Animal, Think Pink, Da Kine, Fat Face and Lowe Alpine amongst others. They run a visiting ski, boots & board hire at your chalet or apartment and also have outlets in La Tania, Le Praz, 1850 and Les Allues.
Other Shops in La Tania
Also in La Tania we’ve a Tabac - incorporating a Newsagent with same day UK papers, Souvenirs, T Shirts, books and Bureau de Change (with cigarettes too) plus The Tourist Office and an irregularly opening Post Office and finally the lift pass office - open all day and later on Saturday nights (English spoken, plastic taken).
Cash Point / Credit Cards
The Cash Point machine next to the Tourist Office returned in Winter 2004/5 after being removed while access was improved for the delivery of cash by security guards back in 2001. There are also machines in Méribel (along the main road up to the square), and Courchevel 1850 (in La Croissette - the main gondola station / tourist office). The Le Praz machine was removed in Summer 2006 - rumours of a new one for 2008. Just about everywhere takes plastic including the supermarkets, lift pass offices, ski shops and all the restaurants & bars.
More Shopping
Lots more shopping in Méribel and Courchevel with loads of ski and board shops with all the latest gear - although note that White Stuff and Fat Face no longer have a presence in The Three Valleys (even though Fat Face was started by 2 Ski Bums flogging T shirts in Méribel).
Head for 1850 if you really need to spend some money on designer furs, lingerie and jewellery.
For discounted ski gear the very large Decathlon and Intersport shops in Albertville and Annecy can be worth a visit at the start or end of season, there's also an O'Neil factory shop (now re branded) on the way towards Annecy which occasionally has some good bargains available.

Skating - Méribel and Courchevel 1850 both have ice rinks.
Sledging - Nightly sledging for the kids (and usually the adults after Aprés Ski) takes place on the floodlit Troika run in the centre of La Tania. The ski shops rent out or sell sledges / bum boards. There's a full on luge sledging run at 1550/1850 which is great fun at night with the 1550 Gondola staying open until 8pm to get you up to 1850 for the floodlit 1.7km run. Decent sledges with solid steel brakes / steering can be rented for €3.50 for a half day. There are further runs at Val Thorens and Les Menuires.
You can also try a full on Olympic bob sleigh over in La Plagne that anyone can have a go on in a proper bob for around £35. Open to everyone one day a week - check with the tourist office.
Dog Sledding - This is a full on, great adventure with you, a sledge and your own 3 Huskies. Details from the Tourist Office or call Krab / Tourist Office to arrange. Highly Recommended!

Touch of Class Massage
Back in 2007 Jessica and Kate used to perform a ten minute upper body massage (head, neck, arms, hands, ears, shoulders and arms) and at the end the client paid what ever they felt it was worth.
They don't seem to be around The Three Valleys any more but this pic led to loads of laughs, secretly swapping over to Big Steve half way through...
