Summer Piste Works

Latest on mountain works across The Three Valleys during Summer 2009

Thanks to Nick & Joey of NickSki for the pics

The following photos were taken by Nick and Joey on their many biking jaunts around The Three Valleys this Summer - Nick reckons it was the best Summer in his 8 years out here, even when it did rain it was usually at night!

As well as a lot of the usual reshaping / profiling of many pistes and work to stop erosion and improve drainage the following areas were worthy of a mention....

Starting in Val Thorens the double drag lift back into resort has been removed we were wondering if a moving belt arrangement is to replace it to allow easier access back to resort for beginners from the learner area nearby.

In Les Menuires a new 6 man chair is going in near to Bruyeres this replaces the old Reberty and Etele chairs. This should allow another quick way out of the valley giving a link to the Beca chair and over towards Mottaret.

Above St Martin De Belleville a large reservoir has been built for the snow canons near to the Granges chairlift.

In Courchevel a new piste is being built from the top of Verdons which I believe will link over to Pralong and thus it will be possible to avoid Biollay especially at peak times. It will unfortunately destroy a great bit of off piste.

The new chairlift in Méribel Village is almost up and running - this is a high-speed detachable quad halving the travel time up to the Méribel Altiport.

The new 6-man chairlift from the Fruit Bowl will link over to 1650, this construction is well underway - pic is of the removal of the old lift. Quite an old lift as this one isn't going to be re-used or even sent to Bulgaria....
