Sandy and Becks - Extreme Cuisine

So how was 2008/2009 Winter Season for you?

May 2009

www.latania.co.uk interview Sandy and Becks about their work in the Alps and La Tania .

Sandy and Becks are long time locals living and working in the Three Valley's all year . They have a Company Catering ,Managing and cleaning Chalets and apartments If that is not enough  they also have an Indian delivery business . Along with a 8 month old baby they are busy people indeed .

Q.How was the season  for you ?
A.(S)It was very good and the snow was fantastic, it had to be one of  the best seasons for ten years !

Q.You recently had a baby, Katie Rose, how did you both cope with work and looking after a new born ?
A.(B) It worked out quite nicely for us, She was born in September so by the time the season started she was sleeping and feeding well. I ran the business from home and when I was catering we juggled the             baby sitting. We were lucky to be surrounded by excellent staff  who did not mind mucking in.

Q. How has the Credit Crunch affected the business ?
A. (S) We had a very successful season,  The Curry business went well because people were looking for a  cheaper option and eating in.
The management and cleaning of apartments was a success as well . Apartment owners have found that Chalet skiers are saving money by renting lower cost accommodation , which in turn has kept us busy. Becks is back full time catering in the chalets next season which will be a bonus for us .
I think we are one of the lucky ones who take the money in resort and have not lost out on the exchange rate. It has been a difficult season for the British registered companies that take their bookings in Sterling.

Q. What was your season Low point?
A. (B) Its difficult to have a low point out here, but February is always a little tougher as we are so busy and can be well cold.

Q High Point?
A(S) Charity day, great atmosphere and crack, but suffered for it the next day .

Q Memorable Moment ?
A(S) Without a doubt, Twalls Tax Inspector  in a suit and carrying a brief case stepping over a  drunken fallen penguin who was shouting ' it was all for charity '

Q What are you up to in the summer ?
A(B) Taking a break, we brought a English canal boat over from the UK and are slowly, very slowly making our way through Europe, it's down in Toulouse at the moment. We want to eventually get her to Germany/Austria and Croatia .

Q  And next season ?
A(B) Back again and hopefully it will be a busy one for everyone .  La tania will be OK . The Bigger more expensive resorts may suffer but this is a great village with a  'second to none'  atmosphere and a loyal following .

Q Thank you both, Fancy a beer ?
