Sunset Sons kick off their European Tour in The Toon

1

Known as the Cheerleaders when they played in La Tania back in the day and now Sunset Sons – the start of their European Tour in Newcastle last night ahead of the launch of their debut album Very Rarely Say Die released on 1st April.

After playing the Newcastle Arena supporting Imagine Dragons and gigs at Barca, Digital and the Tynemouth Surf Cafe (Jed wearing their T shirt not a Toon top this time), this felt like they’d really arrived at the packed out University venue.

Kicking off with Know My Name and Medicine the crowd heard an eclectic blend of the bands’ soon to be iconic tracks sounding tighter than ever and new single Somewhere Maybe is purely belter. No room for Come Easy and no covers this time (everyone seems to know all the songs now even before the lonf awaited first album has come out!).

Speaking to Ray Laidlaw / Jed’s dad, a famous musician himself, he said he was so proud of the lads performance and highlighted how strong they were throughout the gig. What can we say… Sunset Sons are just getting better and better…
Well done lads!!!
