Courchevel announce special pre-opening of Saulire this Saturday 23 Nov (free!)

The first Courchevel lifts were due to open on Saturday 7 December but there will be a special pre-opening this weekend.

Saulire area will be open Saturday 23 November and access is free.

Nick Ski at the top of the new Foret Chair from Le Praz to top of La Tania Gondola

Nick Ski pictured in front of the new Foret Chairlift top station which comes up from Le Praz to just above the La Tania Gondola. The pylons are in and all the major work looks almost completed but not due to open until Dec 2014 as far as we know.

The newly cleared space for the pylons down to Le Praz could lead to some interesting off piste if it’s not fenced off as rumoured. Surprised Nick wasn’t up there with his skis today mind…

The Sun returns before more snow from Monday & through the week

The sun returns but more snow is forecast from Monday and it is looking like further snow falls from the end of the week with really cold temperatures coming in. Wrap up warm if heading for Val Thorens opening this Thursday 21st November.

1 Month to La Tania opening, Val Thorens opening early, SNOW Coming!

1 Month today La Tania lifts open and Val Thorens have announced they are opening a couple of days earlier than scheduled on 21st November (next Thursday, and we’re taking responsibility for pressurising them in to this!). Beaujolais Nouveau Day and Val Thorens Opening Day – could be a big one…

Courchevel and Meribel Valley main lifts are scheduled to open on 7th December and there’s plenty of snow forecast from tomorrow and in to next week with much colder temperatures too. All looking good for a great start to the season (but doesn’t actually mean anything regarding how the whole season will turn out, no matter what anyone says!).
