Another Successful Escapade in a Day Completed – Congratulations!

3vmapTH

Congratulations to Reuben & Duncan who succesfully completeted the Escapade in a Day at the third attempt on 16 Feb 2013. They started at the Doron lift in Les Menuires, finishing at top of La Masse 2.

More from Reuben here:

“We started at the Doron lift in Les Menuires at about 9:05 (the lift was late opening much to our frustration) and finished at the top of Masse 2 at about 4:40. The track starts at about 8:40, as I was staying in VT and skied down to Les Menuires to meet Duncan before the lifts opened.”

“I’ve yet to go through the GPX file to pull out the exact times for each lift, but will do that so others have a set of times to work from. Having tried previously from Meribel over the new year holiday (twice), the timing seemed to work better starting in Les Menuires as we missed the busy periods for a number of lifts. For example, last time we got stuck waiting for Mont De La Chambre for at least 10 minutes. The same was true when trying to get out of Saint Martin De Belleville. With this route, we did Mont De La Chambre as our second lift and were basically on the first chair up and ended up coming out of Saint Martin De Belleville later in the day. Doing the route on a Saturday also made a very big difference, in fact I don’t think its possible mid-week if there are queues. If you lose half a minute to a minute on each chair, cumulative it puts you beyond the end of the day.”

Well done lads, you definitely went hard! Anyone else wanting to have a go? Just 35 lifts and some 51,000 feet (15,500m) of vertical and 57 miles (92km) distance. Not quite twice Everest in height then but nearly…
