New gondola cabins spotted en route to Meribel

We reckon these are for the new Saulire Express 1 rather than the Plattieres 1 & 2 replacements (as they’re supposed to be 10 seater sit down ones and these look like standing ones).

Cheers to Cath at Avid Eaters for the pic – well spotted.

First Tracks on Saulire Spotted and Piste Bashing Started

Webcam at the Saulire summit has evidence of first tracks by the lifties this morning – looks like they’ve started some serious piste bashing work up here now too.

Top work by Alan Hutchison, hiking up Saulire above Courchevel 1850 then earning those tracks on 7 November 2012.

Sunrise at the Saulire summit this morning…

The Saulire webcam looking across to the Vizelle, Marmottes and Suisses top lift stations at sunrise this morning. The lift company are reporting a 36cm snow depth high up and it looks like some piste bashing work has already started on the Saulire piste – maybe just practicing though, still early days…

Why we want to go to La Tania this Winter. The Competition Entries…

The last few competitions have always had a line “I want to go to La Tania because….” in them.

Here’s a list of a few of them, as they were sent, so expect a few spelling errors…

It is a great resort with access to the 3 valleys my favourite ski area

it’s my second home!

…It looks pretty damn good!

I will not be doing a season there for the first time since 2008! maybe a few holidays are in order!

I like the toffee vodka in the Ski Lodge

Its home from home – 3 years on the trot mean fun, fun, fun!

it’s new to me and therefore very exciting to explore

it offers great resorts and good accomodation, you meet loveley people and friendly staff and most importantly the skiing is fantastic!!!!!

I love the extent of the ski area and the la tania apres ski

Once you’ve skied the Three Valleys – why would you want to ski anywhere else !

I’d like to have a more up-to-date photo of me with these two ladies for next year’s blog!

Skiing in La Tania releases the inner me

it’s a fantastic place within easy reach to the huge 3 valleys area and live music every night in the resort

its the greatest place to ski and have fun.

the apres ski! and great snow!

I love to ski hard and have fun!

It looks rad!

The slopes, the snow, the village – it’s all great

it’s like coming home! Every year – can’t wait!

It would be my third season there, I love it. Cracking crowd, fantastic food and drink and amazing access to the largest ski range IN THE WORLD!!

We’ve already rented an apartment there and to not ski would just be a waster!

Its the perfect all round destination in the middle of the worlds biggest skiing area!

Cos I’ve booked me flights and its where Toffa lives

Remarkable location to Méribel and Courchevel.

I did 6 seasons there and I miss it so much!!!!!

We have missed the ski lodge!! I worked my first ski season in LT and it brings back so many good memories!

of the fantastic ski area, great apres and good selection of authentic restaurants.

if I didn’t, they would think something was wrong or I had died

luv it

I spent two fantastic seasons working in the ‘village’ and I would love to go back and experience that
feeling again of coming down Folyere’s and stopping just outside the Ski Lodge for a quick demi in the sunshine.

It keeps the girls in my life happy!

i just love it!!! xx

Its the best place in the world as well as my second home!

…I’ve already booked…because of the Ski Lodge!

It has the best skiing and the bet apres-ski in Europe.

Its friken awsome

The best resort in the 3 valleys by far

…The Latania.co.uk websites make it look so inviting!!!

it’s the bestest

always going hard…
When the going gets tough, the tough get going!

I miss the poudreuse under my skies

I want to be a part of the best skiing on the planet!!

I’ve never been !

I have not skied in France before and the pine forest location looks awesome.

I would love to ski the three valleys and La Tania is ideally situated between Courchevel and Meribel

Quality stuff, think I might have a little cry now…

Ski Show Shenanigans….

Ski and Snowboard Show 2012 – Earls Court 2

In Earls Court 2 this year, opposite West Brompton Tube, £4.50 a pint at all bars, main ones are Heavenly stand as you enter, the Norway resort bar and the one next to the slope. Prince of Wales is designated pre/post show pub.

So……. The big retailers Snow & Rock, Ellis Brigham, North Face and Tresspass and new kit everywhere. Some good deals on Oakleys at the Eyewear Outlet stand, Ortovox with some new models, too many new skis to think of plus a whole host of other stands selling mostly something to do with skiing – remote control Helicopters anyone?

USA, Canada, Norway, Italy tourist offices are here in a big way and while Espace Killy and Paradiski had representation there is nothing from The 3 Valleys (spending all their money on new lifts instead perhaps?).

Lots of tour ops including Alpine Elements and smaller chalet companies such as the Ski Bluebird guys from 1650 on the Huck Cancer stand.

Wine tasting in the Virgin Wines stand £10 on Saturday has to be done too. Add in the ski jump on to an air bag, the instruction slope, ice rink, curling, Penguins and more interactive stuff and it should be rammed on Saturday…

See you in the Norway Resorts Bar (probably) on Saturday………
