Well the tour finishes in London next Friday anyway, and nothing heard about possible Little World Festival in Meribel next year yet….

And the Bouc Blanc terrace just above La Tania is white again this morning! Expect more through the day lower down and in to tomorrow as the temperature drops…

Ex Alpine Band Shibboleth’s Graeme Rocking Munich (playing 500 Miles)

Playing to a couple of thousand drunk Germans at October Fest in Munich on Phil The Van’s 50th Graeme from Shibboleth. All the old school will remember him and Shibb from 10 years of gigs in and around The Three Valleys.

Highest boat in the Alps..?

Maybe the highest boat under power in the Alps at over 1500mtrs at the beautiful Lac Rosiere above Courchevel 1650. Might at first sight be a boring non skiing picture however Lac Rosiere provides masses of water throughout the winter for Hydro Electric and for the snow cannons throughout Courchevel and has to be dredged every few years to remove all the silt which is mainly gypsum. Those of you that know your rules of the road will see that it is displaying “Restricted in Manoeuvability” but not the “Underwater Operations” it is conducting as it was having a breather for lunch. Nice new shiny snow cannons on the Murettes run.

Some serious work gone into putting snow cannons all the way down Murettes. They have also widened the run where it turns sharp right towards Praz.

Courchevel 1300, 1550, 1650, 1850 changing their names?

I missed this!

Google translation from the Courchevel Mairee site:

As part of the promotion and marketing of the resort, especially abroad, it became apparent that the present name of towns, referring to the altitude, gave a pejorative image at lower levels. Also, the council decided to change the current names: the new names become: For Courchevel 1850 Courchevel For Courchevel 1650 Courchevel Moriond For Courchevel 1550 Courchevel Village For Praz Courchevel Le Praz Saint-Bon Courchevel Saint Bon (chief town)

Not sure what gave a pejorative image is either!

Courchevel from Champagny-en-Vanoise

Another shocking late summer day in the Alps. Autumn seems to be on hold.
