La Tania hit by earthquake, new G.Bois roof, new Lyon flights, Pub opens Friday

Summer starts this weekend in La Tania with the big mountain bike weekend including the Saulire Summit to Bride Les Bains downhill event and the Three Valleys Tour.
A few bits of news so far: A 4.3 level earthquake shook La Tania yesterday at 13:53hrs – no damage reported! A new roof is going on the Grand Bois – wood being lifted up by Helicopter (is that really the greenest way of doing it – or can’t they get a crane up because of all the new building work between Hotel Montana and the Gondola Station). The gondola will open as planned on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday although you will be directed around the construction work. easyJet have announced new routes from Bristol and Liverpool to Lyon (it may be further than Geneva but often a quicker run, more on tolls and no duty free in EU though). The work on the Stade in 1850 is now new chalets – it’s all preparation for the World Cup events in 2011. Rumours of a couple of Bring Your Sisters Summer Gigs are about – we’ll post here as soon as we get any kind of confirmation. Pub Le Ski Lodge opens at 4pm on Friday – They’ll be open all day for Summer during July and August except Tuesday when they open at 4pm. As usual it’s Moules & Frites night on Thursday and the original Alpine Fish n Chips on Friday.
