Using Your Mobile Abroad for Data – O2 15MB for £1.50 / Day

Not too long ago, there were a number of different types of holidays that prevented people from accessing strong mobile service and mobile Internet while away from home. For example, many people who go on ski trips abroad find that at high altitudes and in remote locations they have very limited mobile capabilities and access. Fortunately, providers like O2 now design travel phones and service packages entirely geared toward addressing this specific issue. Now, with the right phone and payment plan, and the right amount of data usage, you can use your mobile phone abroad not only to call and text, but also to email and browse the Internet. Even better, many of the payment plans associated with such phones are quite affordable, and allow you all the capabilities you could want while abroad.

The standard rate for data usage, while traveling within Europe is £3.07 per MB of data usage. However, this also comes with a 50 MB per month usage limit, which is a nice deal considering there is also a £40 per month charge limit. This essentially means that once you have reached that charge limit, you will be able to continue using your mobile until you reach the 50 MB per month limit, at no additional charge. The same type of plan exists for traveling outside of Europe, except that the cost per MB jumps up to £6 per MB.

O2 also offers a separate deal, however, which can be extremely appealing for shorter trips, and which can save you a great deal of money while still allowing you adequate data usage. With a plan called “Web Daily Europe,” you can enjoy this alternate rate while traveling in Europe. Essentially, you receive 15 MB of usage per day for your mobile, at a low cost of only £1.50 per day. Again, this can be ideal for a shorter vacation, during which you may not want to pay larger, monthly rates. For most vacation situations, 15 MB per day is also plenty adequate for your needs.

Ultimately, the type of plan that you enjoy when on holiday is entirely up to you, and depends upon your budget, the length of your vacation, and the amount of data usage you think you will require. However, do keep in mind that it is no longer a problem to access maximum mobile capabilities while abroad, even if you’re on a remote ski trip! Plans like the ones outlined above can keep your trip affordable while allowing you mobile Internet convenience.
