Latest Update On Conditions From S3V & 3 Valleys Lift Companies

We’ve just received this update from the S3V Commercial Director, Jean-Pierre Lalanne – this is the ski area management and lift company for Courchevel, La Tania and Mottaret.

Currently The 3 Valleys has the largest number of linked pistes open in Europe

There are 123 lifts and 173 pistes now open but there remains no snow in the forecast until around 31 December.

The lift companies are working 24/7 and making snow as soon as temperatures permit. Snow making has taken place at certain altitudes over the last 2 nights and is expected to continue tonight. So far 600,000 cubic metres have been produced (equivalent of 430 football pitches 20cm thick).

All staff have been hired and all employees where possible are being redeployed to assist is snow management, removal of stones, recovery of snow from car parks etc. In addition certain entertainments, complimentary hot drinks etc are being made available.

The snow from the recent, successful World Cup event that was produced for the competition has been moved to other parts of the ski area – some 200 truck loads of snow over 2 nights.

Restrictions have been put in place to look after 3 Valleys clients as a priority – access is restricted from employees from other resorts, external ski clubs and ski groups visiting for the day. In addition local employees and residents are being asked to restrict their skiing to help preserve the slopes for our guests.

Finally a big thank you from S3V for everyone’s help and encouragement at this time.
