More “What’s New” News for The Three Valleys

Following on from our updates on developments last month on the 4 new ski lifts for the Three Valleys and our building / construction work update we’ve got some updates from S3V (the lift company for La Tania, Courchevel and Mottaret).

All will be pulled together in our comprehensive annual What’s New in The Three Valleys update in October.

Opening Dates Now Confirmed
Rumours have finally been confirmed that La Tania will open a week earlier than normal (and close a week earlier too). The decision based on previous years snow conditions and tour operators requests – with an early Easter in 2016 and the fact that almost everything was closed in La Tania and Courchevel by the last week of the season last year. There’s at least plenty of staff training or looking for work in that first week!

Courchevel 1850 – Sat 5 Dec 2015 to Sun 24 Apr 2016

Skiing Guaranteed
Courchevel has 85% of its ski area over 1800m and with world-class grooming, snow management and a comprehensive network of snow cannons they are going to “Guarantee Your Skiing”. Full details are yet to be released but for holders of a 3 Valleys pass of 6 days or more you will be refunded if less that 33% of lifts are operational. Season Passes are obviously excluded and drags lifts aren’t counted, more info will be on the S3V.com website soon.

Alpine Legends Superpass
The Alpine Legends SuperPass
New for Winter 2016 is a lift pass covering the huge ski areas of The Three Valleys, Paradiski (Les Arcs / La Plagne) and Espace Killy (Tignes / Val d’Isère). With 5 glaciers, 1300km of pistes and 391 lifts it is truly skiing on a massive scale. The only prices we’ve seen so far are for 6, 7 or 8 days validity at prices of €340, €390 and €440 – no other discounts, commissions or age categories.

New Snow Cannons in 1650 Courchevel Moriond
This Summer sees 10 new snow cannons from the Signal area down to Courchevel 1650 – The Courchevel Valley now boasting that over 50% of the ski area can be covered by artificial snow. Note that Courchevel “artificial snow” is only water sprayed under high pressure – no additives and the water resources are carefully managed using specially made reservoirs linked with underground pipes.

2 New Webcams, more Free WiFi and Electric Cars.
Another 2 new webcams will be going on-line this Winter. One from the top of Col de la Loze looking down towards La Tania and the other from the top of Chenus looking across the valley to Saulire and Courchevel 1650. More free WiFi spots are also promised and keeping up their green credentails, S3V has taken delivery of new BMW I3 all electric, carbon fibre body shell cars for this Winter – handy for local use as they only have a 100 mile range on a full charge.
