Good News! Workers 3 Valleys Pass Discounts At Last!

3 Valleys Lift Passes
Following on from the introduction of residents 3 Valleys Pass discounts for the first time last season we’ve had it confirmed from Jean-Pierre Lalanne, the Commercial Director of S3V (the Courchevel & Mottaret Lift Company) that there will be a 30% discount for 3V Passes to workers this season.

While there has been always been a single valley discount, the introduction of an optional 3 Valleys discounted pass is a great incentive for Saisonnaires to get out of their own valley more often.

The discount works out at costing ten 3 Valleys Extensions on a single pass – but of course once you’ve got it there is the opportunity to have a ski home to La Tania over on the Meribel side in sunshine and back on the Loze chair – you’d never use an extension up for 1 lift or going for a quick beer in the Rond Point or Folie Douce for example (well you might actually……).

We’ve done the maths for you…

Season prices for Winter 2013/14
Courchevel Valley €1000, 3 Valleys €1190 (difference €190 or 6 extensions)
Courchevel Workers €515, 3 Valleys Workers €833 (difference €318 or 10 extensions)
A 3 Valleys Extension is €31 per day for Winter 2014

So Workers get a 48% discount on a single valley and 30% on a 3 Valleys. Not as much discount on a 3V pass but at least it is an option for the first time.
Resident discounts are greater with around a 65% discount on a single valley and 50% on a 3 Valleys.

Note that workers are required to show employment contracts and then re-activate the pass in January with their first wage slip. Residents have to show proof of residency and local income tax payments – UK based apartment owners for example don’t count. There’s also a photo taken which is stored electronically and randomly checked at lift stations by remote display screens.

To put things in to perspective a 6-day 3 Valleys Adult Pass is €277 (say £40 a day)
A single day in The 3 Valleys on over 600km of piste is €57 (say £49 a day)
A single day at a UK indoor slope on 160m of piste is £44
Even at full price a 3 Valleys season pass could work out at £6 a day!

  1. The problem is Toffa that the Courchevel valley workers pass has gone up by 90 Euros… that's an increase of over 20%. As the majority of companies only offer employees this single valley lift pass, the additional cost will surely get passed onto their clients?!

  2. Ha ha ha. So a 50c a day increase is going to destroy the ski industry on the wages they pay.. And the profits the big boys make. Get real. 1 restaurant meal, 1 shared transfer, 1 return ski carriage, 1 day lift pass. What a “problem”.

  3. Wasn't it €475 last year? Still 8% rise – but that's only about 20p per day more!

  4. When buying a 3 Valleys 'Workers Pass' are we able to pay for it throughout the season or do we have to pay the full €833 up front?

  5. You pay around half when you buy it at the beginning of December and then go back and pay the remaining half (with your first wage slip) around mid-January.

Of course your employer may help…

  6. You need to be resident and paying local income tax or proof of income while living here.
