A blip in the mild weather with snow Tuesday night?

After hitting 23 degrees in the valleys this weekend with southerly winds being pulled up by the massive low pressure system crossing the Atlantic (and some cracking surf in spots sheltered from the wind was generated) a complete change is on the cards. GFS models now all fairly consistent on showing this cold spell – top lines are temperatures, bottom lines are precipitation from different Global Forecasting Systems.

Cold air will be dragged down from the North with temperatures plummeting for a couple of days as the front crosses the Alps with significant snowfall expected in the Northern Alps. It may pass a bit too far North and East to hit La Tania much but a good chance we could see everything white for a few hours early on Wednesday morning! Mild weather looks like it will return towards the end of the week however.
