{"id":387,"date":"2009-06-15T13:11:00","date_gmt":"2009-06-15T11:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.latania.co.uk\/b\/?p=387"},"modified":"2009-06-15T13:11:00","modified_gmt":"2009-06-15T11:11:00","slug":"esf-welcomes-british-instructors-at-last","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.latania.co.uk\/blog\/2009\/06\/15\/esf-welcomes-british-instructors-at-last\/","title":{"rendered":"ESF Welcomes British Instructors at last&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ESF (Ecole de Ski Francais) has announced it plans to recruit 250 fully<br \/>qualified English speaking snowsports instructors for winter 2009\/10, and<br \/>has the full support of BASI (British Association of Snowsports Instructors)<br \/>to do so reports <a href=\"http:\/\/www.natives.co.uk\/\">www.natives.co.uk<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The move is in response to increasing demands from British clients for<br \/>native English speakers, and addresses the problems of 20 years ago for<br \/>British instructors working in French resorts.<\/p>\n<p>The situation somewhat improved 10 years ago when international schools were<br \/>legally allowed to operate, but French instructors have remained fearful<br \/>that their jobs were under threat.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Lockerbie, chairman of BASI, said, &#8220;We&#8217;re looking forward to working<br \/>together to recruit British instructors to the ESF. It&#8217;s going to provide a<br \/>greater variety of instructors for clients which can only help to benefit<br \/>everyone involved. It&#8217;s an excellent opportunity for British instructors &#8211;<br \/>France is the holy grail for instructors as it&#8217;s one of the few places where<br \/>you can actually make a living from teaching, plus it shows British<br \/>instructors are now valued internationally.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Eric Gravier, representing all 250 ESF schools and director of the ESF in<br \/>Les 2 Alpes, said, &#8220;Ideally candidates will need to have their international<br \/>diploma (ISTD), but if not they can come and finish their training with the<br \/>ESF.
