Not much – The cows are back in town, weather is rainy like it has been for 3 weeks, a worker fell off the roof at Saboia, the Chrome bar is open and Katie’s (ex-Bubble Bar) new restaurant in 1650 is open.
Ski Lodge Opening Date for Summer
The opening date for Pub Le Ski Lodge in La Tania is set for the evening of Friday 4th July. Meanwhile over in Meribel Village the opening date for Lodge du Village (aka LdV) is possibly 12th July.
George (Ex Shibboleth) with CZJ
Searching for some La Tania related material and then you find this….
George Hutchison who used to play in Shibboleth – who’ve played Winter seasons in La Tania forever – in a music video hugging Catherine Zeta Jones. What’s all that about then eh?
Think George is now back with the excellent (and by far the best) Abba tribute band Bjorn Again and gigging with them once more – they’ve some summer shows lined up in the UK and it’s a great night out – 70’s dressing up obligatory of course. No news on what Shibboleth will be up to next season though – rumours of a different resort entirely maybe. Graham and a few of the lads are still playing around Munich and Colin tour guiding in Scotland I guess… All the Alps Live Music info here

Best day of the season?
Hi all, sorry it has taken so long to get these pics on. I’m nominating Wednesday 16th April as best day of the season. We were on first lift (Mr Nickski was there so must have been early!), and quickly got out onto the corduroy – picture is of Biollay and was best I had ever skied it. There was fresh powder and we traversed to Creux Noir as the lift was shut and managed to get a good line over to the spot the other side of the lift. Nice and steep, good powder. We then headed to 1650 and Chaplets and the ‘Valley of Peace’ to the right of the piste – picture is of Ed Hall, Frank and Chrissie in the valley. As it was one of the last powder days of the season everyone seemed to be trying things you wouldn’t try earlier – we saw a guy ski off a 15m rock off the back of the Chandrossa! Lots more skiing, mainly off piste then just as I was starting to tire – a parapent! Fantastic views over the Dou du Lanches, plumbers etc. and near perfect conditions with some excellent thermals. A few more runs La Tania side and then ski to Meribel to watch band of the season ‘Livewire’ play the Ronnie. They played an extended gig, with a few special guests. Then a delicious meal at the Taiga. What more could you want?

25cms of lovely powder high up

After 2 days of snow above 1700 and cloud, saw some patchy sunshine especially at the top of Peclet today.The skiing is fantastic and more Spring like due to warmer temperatures but still powder to be had above 2600 on North facing slopes.Still skied home to the door.

Plan Fontaine and Folyeres still open and loads of snow on Folyeres.Best runs were Combe de Pylon and Lac de la Chambre.Mid morning the wind picked up and started to close lifts in Val Thorens.Still one more week until the the 3 Valleys Circuit closes.
