Beautiful DayAnother perfect day here in La Tania. Basketball court now up and pool covers removed. Not long until Summer now!Report issued by Johnny on Friday 29 May 2009 at 17:43New SnowAbove around 1550m the trees are white. Snowing quite heavily last night at Meribel 1600, should be some pockets of powder up there although probably quite heavy until you get high up. Sunny this morning although due to cloud over later with the chance of some more snow showers.Report issued by Toffa on Friday 17 April 2009 at 08:38Shorts weatherPositively boiling low down. Need to pick your runs right or things softening up too much. Plenty of cover still, even both sides of La Troika are still open. Bring your shorts if you're on your way out for Easter (although some cloudy weather supposed to be on it's way).Report issued by Lady Jane on Tuesday 07 April 2009 at 10:31Warm...Sun is out, another warm day, snow soft lower down but still some great piste skiing on offer. Bottom section of La Tania red now closed and the odd lower run but sill masses of great skiing available especially AM.Report issued by Euan on Friday 03 April 2009 at 12:146pm Monday Night - Dumping again!More snow, coming down hard now, been on and off all day.Report issued by Alex on Monday 09 March 2009 at 18:05And it's still snowing....Report issued by Phil on Friday 06 March 2009 at 15:01As good as it gets...Out with Jamie and Jemma this morning - fantastic. Perhaps 50cm forecast for tonight...Report issued by Phil on Thursday 05 March 2009 at 10:22Warmer... Bit snow later in the week? After superb skiing on Thursday and first thing Friday the temperature has shot up and there's a sudden spring feel everywhere today. Looks like being fairly warm with spring like conditions for the next day or so but colder, more unsettled weather looks like it's heading over from mid-week. I bow to the Video Snow Report guru later though...Report issued by Kev on Saturday 28 February 2009 at 11:42Wet Snow Low DownBeen coming down with a bit of rain low down but set to get colder this evening, should be some freshies tomorrow!Report issued by Phil on Sunday 18 January 2009 at 16:37Snow...The cloudless blue skies have ended for now with a covering of fresh snow this morning and it looks like moderate snowfall set to continue on and off throughout the day. Certainly freshening up the pistes and making everything look a whole lot better.Report issued by Phil on Tuesday 06 January 2009 at 09:27Snow Tomorrow Night? The sunny days and cold weather continue although there a few clouds coming over and a chance of some snow by tomorrow night - not a major dump though. Pistes generally becoming harder now and some stones about, it's worth checking out the S3V grooming lists (print outs at the major lift stations) to find the freshly groomed pistes for the best runs.Report issued by Toffa on Monday 05 January 2009 at 11:52Cloudless Blue Sunny Skies....Gorgeous weather and superb piste conditions. Some icy, hard pack areas with the odd stone about on heavy traffic areas and late in the day on shaded areas but generally spot on skiing and riding in the sun (still cold too!).Report issued by Toffa on Tuesday 23 December 2008 at 09:54Windy!!!!Very high winds today, lots of top lifts closed and everything shut in 1850 for a time. The La Tania gondola was of course open (nothing in Le Praz, 1550 or 1650) - one of the lifts that nearly always operates whatever the weather in The three Valleys. One drag and intermittent opening of the Lanches 4-man chair meant there was plenty of skiing available around La Tania - it is the greatest place.......... Summits are getting stripped of snow (off piste) with the high winds but there is light snow falling now at 3:30pm and some more expected.Report issued by Toffa on Sunday 14 December 2008 at 16:19Snow Time!Friday morning. Walked up behind the hut at the top of the Chanrossa chair (the pisteurs were checking for tranceivers)and came down the large face. Then up Creux Noir chair. Headed towards the Mottaret side and then climbed up back towards the Courchevel side to come down the left hand side of the Aiguille. Light and fluffy deep powder. Fresh tracks down to Lac Tueda, with an interesting ski out, then over to 1650 and down the couloir to the left of the avalanche face. Pistes are in great condition. Excellent piste skiing continues, the slopes above 1650 are perfect.... Some directly exposed sunny slopes and heavily skied areas are becoming hard and worn by mid afternoon but well worth making it out for that first lift to enjoy the perfect corderoy and some quiet slopes before the mid morning busy spell.Report issued by Jimbo on Wednesday 13 February 2008 at 10:57WHAT A FAB WEEKJust had one of the best weeks of the season a foot of powder and then wonderful sunny days and relatively quiet pistes with very few queues.Every single run is open in the 3 Valleys including the Grand CouloirReport issued by NICK NICKSKI on Saturday 09 February 2008 at 14:40Dumping now...Has been dumping since about 11am. Wall.....Report issued by Toffa on Wednesday 30 January 2008 at 16:54Sun continues - but snow on the waySunny weather has led to some pistes becoming hard and worn in their busy traffic areas (especially at the end of the day) but the vast majority of pistes are still in excellent condition. Weather set to change with new snow fall expected by the end of the week.Report issued by Toffa on Monday 28 January 2008 at 10:59SNOWING ALL DAYSnow started early morning.Four of us had the first fresh tracks down Folyeres then ventured to Jean Blanc which we were still the only tracks on after our second run. Meribel very busy but Courchevel Valley seemed to have very few busy lifts. We didnt have more than a couple of minutes waiting time.Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Monday 31 December 2007 at 18:57FANTASTIC PISTE SKIING100% open in Courchevel and probably in the whole 3 Valleys even Gros Murger draglift out of the centre of La Tania whose opening times are always a mystery is open.Pistes still quiet no queing for liftsReport issued by NICK NICKSKI on Sunday 23 December 2007 at 18:27And another great day...Still clear, sunny and cold. Off piste in many areas is wind packed now but still the odd powder stash. Most pistes are still superb and groomed to perfection but late in the day in shaded areas there are some hard packed spots especially on busy areas - I wouldn't call it ice though and it's still white... The Folyeres run down in to La Tania is probably the best piste in the world right now (and no one on it either).Report issued by Toffa on Thursday 20 December 2007 at 11:52Perfect (but maybe a bit cold)Another great day but very cold. Most pistes remaining superb with the odd hard patches in busy areas. Still some great powder to be had when it hasn't been wind swept...Report issued by Toffa on Monday 17 December 2007 at 17:46AWESOME POWDER DAY10.15 sun starts to appear for the first time since Saturday.10.50 Vizelle opens and 3 Valleys links, only Creux and Combe Saulire pisted and open,so it had to be Piste M then Suisse followed by Marmottes. To end the day down through the trees above La Tania and Morretta back home. As good as it gets!!!Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Wednesday 12 December 2007 at 17:33SNOW STILL COMING DOWNLatest forcast snow to continue for another 24 hours!!!!Still no 3 Valleys links open due to avalanche risk and high winds.Over 1.5 metres as of this morning at the top of Saulire.Every single piste in the whole system will be skiable on Saturday once the the snowpack stabilises or is made safe.Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Monday 10 December 2007 at 13:00DUMPING IT DOWN AGAINSaturday awesome, skied all the way down Jockeys in champagne powder and then again back to La Tania by Moretta at least 60cms of snow on the pistes.Wet snow overnight but now freezing again and very heavy snow now falling with 2 full days right down to the valley floor to come.Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Sunday 09 December 2007 at 11:11BIG SNOW FORECASTRain on Friday will turn to snow tonight and continue on through the weekend. Sunday could see some rain in resort (but snow just higher up) but again turning back to snow as night falls. Looks like continuing cold next week with snow showers at the start of the week. Up high the experts are talking of a 1m fall... Go hard, but take care.Report issued by Toffa on Friday 07 December 2007 at 12:42Nick predicts correctly - Snow!!!"24 hours plus of heavy snowfalls to start later today and continuing into Tuesday down to 1200.This will guarantee all the 3 Valleys links for Saturdays opening.Looking at the forecast this could just be the start!!!!!" ---- And yes, as Nick predicted we've got snow. La Tania all white once again this morning. Only an inch or so right down to resort level but plenty more fresh higher up and set to continue throughout the day. Main piste in to the village is pisted and complete thanks to snow cannons and piste bashers - all looking good for Courchevel / Meribel opening on Saturday. La Tania lifts open on the 15th while Val Thorens report 41% of their area is now open.Report issued by Toffa on Monday 03 December 2007 at 10:04STORM CLOUDS FLYING UP THE VALLEY24 hours plus of heavy snowfalls to start later today and continuing into Tuesday down to 1200.This will guarantee all the 3 Valleys links for Saturdays opening.Looking at the forcast this could just be the start!!!!!Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Sunday 02 December 2007 at 10:02Milder - but pistes are builtAfter all that snow we've had some milder temperatures and lower down much of the snow has melted but the prepared pistes are all still there, pisted and compacted and ready to be skied.Report issued by Jamie on Tuesday 27 November 2007 at 10:22StunningSunshine, deep blue sky and lots of fresh now blanketing the mountains - Simply stunning. This Winter rolls on and on...Report issued by Toffa on Monday 28 May 2007 at 12:16SUPERB LAST WEEKEND ALL 3 VALLEYS LINKS OPEN AS USUALLast tour of the 3 valleys including the 4th valley what a great weekend with uncrowded pistes and Folyeres still open but only skiable to the La Troika drag lift.We still skied through Meribel and Mottaret no down lifting required.A final beer at Bouc Blanc mid afternoon.Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Monday 23 April 2007 at 13:53ALMOST SUMMER BUT STILL GREATFolyeres still open but thin in places and ends just before the bridge. However Bouc Blanc and the top section of Dou De Lanches are great. All links still open Mont Vallon was super around lunchtime followed by Grand Lac to St Martin 2 Chair and then Choucas and down to Meribel.Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Thursday 19 April 2007 at 20:02Still Hot....And hardly even freezing at night now so lower slopes really suffering over the last couple of days. Still possible to ski down to La Tania though but it looks like they've given up on the free Troike drag lift (and as it's so quiet who can blame then!). Still some good runs higher up and there'll be some decent skiing until we close this weekend. Meribel Mottaret is open for another week and Val Thorens until May 8th.Report issued by Toffa on Monday 16 April 2007 at 19:40Still Hot....And hardly even freezing at night now so lower slopes really suffering over the last couple of days. Still possible to ski down to La Tania though but it looks like they've given up on the free Troike drag lift (and as it's so quiet who can blame then!). Still some good runs higher up and there'll be some decent skiing until we close this weekend. Meribel Mottaret is open for another week and Val Thorens until May 8th.Report issued by Toffa on Monday 16 April 2007 at 19:40HotMore sunbathing weather and too hot to ski... But pistes higher up fine in the morning, softening up during the day and a slush fest at the bottom (especially in to Meribel and Mottaret). La Tania resort run still skiing well all the way down with only the odd marker being posted for thin patches - remarkable considering the weather!Report issued by Toffa on Wednesday 11 April 2007 at 16:21Hot Sun - Low Down Starting to SufferThe hot sun of the last few days hadn't had too much of a bad effect on the pisted runs as hard freezes overnight with lots of grooming work led to classic Spring conditions with softening runs throughout the day. However last night and today there has been more cloud about and the snow softened up quickly today. Maybe an inch of fresh up top this morning but soft, soft, snow by afternoon just about everywhere. Skiing down in to Mottaret was so slushy and a lot worse than the La Tania home run which still has surprisingly good cover with no bare patches down the main run. Still enjoyable skiing and boarding above 1800m especially on North facing and steeper, less skied runs.Report issued by Toffa on Sunday 08 April 2007 at 18:11Just a beautiful day...Absolute stunner of a day today. Deep blue skies and hot sunshine that has eventually softened up the snow after a hard freeze last night. Slopes that directly face in to the sun are suffering and had softened up suprisingly quickly this morning but most slopes stayed fairly firm until lunchtime. Still great cover though and not a hint of rocks or bare patches on the main runs.Report issued by Toffa on Thursday 05 April 2007 at 16:17Snow and SunA miserable day at resort level today with cloud and wet snow lightly falling throughout the day. Higher up however you could ski above the murk and sunshine with falling snow was quite a weird experience - some rocking pistes and even flying down back to resort the North facing La Tania slopes were still fairly firm and a great fly down - especially on brand new Nordica Nitrous Hot Rods, the softer snow the better!Report issued by Toffa on Wednesday 04 April 2007 at 20:20Superb pistesA quick afternoon blast around Courchevel - with the black Suisse, M and Chanrossa all in excellent shape. Lower down slushy in the late afternoon but La Tania blue resort run holding up well with good cover and no bare patches - and not even as slushy as expected on the way back down....Report issued by Will on Monday 02 April 2007 at 17:50Superb Pistes High UpSome fantastic piste skiing across the Three Valleys. The warm sun got to grips with the fresh snow of Friday night and the fresh covering vanished from the lower slopes and the trees very quickly but higher up the cover is spot on. Blue run down to resort still has masses of cover on it and stayed firmer this afternoon as the sun refused to really come out (until 5pm on the Ski Lodge terrace - what a perfect end to the day).Report issued by Toffa on Sunday 01 April 2007 at 20:36DUMPING IT DOWNSnow started about 2 hours ago and with it came a huge temperature drop.Minus 5 and snowing as fast as it ever does could be a big one. Saturday could be a great day.Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Friday 30 March 2007 at 20:32Cloud coming on, snow on the wayAfter some beautiful days of sunshine and perfect snow the weather is about to change. Snow due tonight and over the next couple of days - hopefully some sun again next week to go along with the freshies...Report issued by Toffa on Friday 30 March 2007 at 15:39Gorgeous Snow...The sun and blue skies came out this afternoon for some glorious piste skiing on perfectly groomed pistes. Lovely, lovely snow. Still a bit of powder in sheltered spots, the rest transforming under the sun. Looks like quite a bit more snow is forecast too - what is going to happen to my long, long lunches in the sun...Report issued by Dave S on Monday 26 March 2007 at 20:11Could it get any better than this?Another fantastic day's skiing. Visibility again wasn't the best, but still plenty of fresh, thigh deep, untracked powder to be found. Snow still falling, cold temperatures. Turning out to be a great season.Report issued by Sally Dazzle on Thursday 22 March 2007 at 19:00Champagne Powder at Least a Foot of the Fresh StuffWonderful powder day but poor vis above 2100 metres. All the tree runs were superb and 1650 was lovely with hardly anyone on the pistes. Could be a great one tomorrow as the sun is due to shine now and again in the morning.Guess what most of the local girls are going shopping !!!Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Tuesday 20 March 2007 at 19:02Winter Returns Once MoreAfter more than a week of sunshine, blue skies and warm temperatures the weather finally turns and it's snowing once more. It's forecast to fall way below resort level and snow showers to continue throughout the week. Lovely...Report issued by Toffa on Monday 19 March 2007 at 14:59and the sun goes on....Another perfect sunny day but snow holding out well with the cold nights allowing snow cannons and smooth piste bashing to operate. Snow is hard first thing but softens up lovely in the sun and there's some great piste skiing and boarding to be done. Heavy lower down at the end of the day, so the gondola may be an option to come down but if you ride it hard you can imagine it's powder and blast through it....Report issued by Toffa on Wednesday 14 March 2007 at 11:47Another Beautiful Sunny DayPistes stating to suffer lower down (La Tania home run has plenty of cover though - no bare patches at all). Creamy pistes over 1650 this morning were wonderful and there really was a naked women getting her photo taken at the top of Saulire today! Shibboleth's Last Stand tonight at the Ski Lodge - it'll be a big one......Report issued by Toffa on Tuesday 13 March 2007 at 17:42Great Pistes but the Wind's got upSome beautiful piste skiing around 1850 and 1650 today. Rarely used runs line Cave des Creaux and Mur were superb and only a bit soft in the sun facing sides. High Winds this afernoon sprang up from nowhere and closed all the high lifts pretty quickly. This led to some long queues at drag lifts and some lower chairs that were still open but we got back from 1650 ok after watching the queues go down from the safety of the Caserole Restaurant at the bottom of the Signal Chair. Just for a change we came down the green run back in to La Tania and I was amazed at how good the snow on it was - considering there's no snow cannonand it's low down, it was great fun, almost like a boarder cross... Off now to Bring Your Sisters down the Taiga. Plus it's Shibboleth's last gig of the season in La Tania on Tuesday so this should be good training......Report issued by Toffa on Sunday 11 March 2007 at 19:41Another Great Day - and now it's snowing...Classic Spring snow today after the temps dropped right down last night (snow cannons at the top of the gondola this morning). Skied over to 1650 and then St Martin and lots of places in between - run down in to Meribal was prett horrible but Folyeres resort run is holding uo VERY wellReport issued by Toffa on Saturday 10 March 2007 at 02:09LOVELY SUNNY DAYFantastic day went to the 4th Valley and skied the itinery we call it Pete's Lorry.Snow cover as good as always all runs home still open.Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Friday 09 March 2007 at 21:58LOVELY SUNNY DAYAfter an horrendous week with only a few hours of sunshine but loads of snow and yes rain below 1800 Friday and Saturday we had a great day today all the way to Masse. There is so much snow that Chanrossa and Creux Noir are still closed along with Mont Vallon for the 3rd day or longer . Skiing is typically Spring conditions but getting colder this week with yet more of the white stuff coming our way. Skiing back to La Tania with all runs open as is usual for the time of year.Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Sunday 04 March 2007 at 22:52A foot of fresh high upbut raining down in resort... Lift company reporting 30cm of fresh on summits but high lifts still closed while the pisteurs deal with avalanche safety and 3V links have delayed opening once again. Jockey and Jean Blanc both open for fun in the trees down to Le Prax though...Report issued by Phil on Friday 02 March 2007 at 10:28SNOW - Big Time! After a couple of days of light snow fall we had a decent dump last night. Around 40cm low down with at least 60cm high up according to the lift company. We've got a 4 out of 5 avalanche risk, delayed opening of high lifts and Three Valley links, the roads are chaos and it's still coming down now - WINTER RETURNS! Fantastic skiing and boarding when the weather clears, Go Hard...Report issued by Toffa on Monday 26 February 2007 at 10:39SUNDAY SNOW!Heavy snow this morning down to below resort level (to around St Bonn). It's a big one tonight with the mighty Shibboleth. . . .Another one of those deep blue sky days today when it feels great to be alive. Pistes holding up well to the half term crowds, always worth getting up early and lunching early to get the best time on the slopes and avoid any queues. Late in the day the lower slopes becoming rather scraped in busy traffic areas but all in all some brilliant skiing and boarding available.Report issued by Rob on Tuesday 20 February 2007 at 11:07Another Perfect Day...The sun is out, the skies are blue, it's wonderful, the snow is too... Think there a 5 runs closed in the Three Valleys, only 288 left to do then - around 590km!Report issued by Eric on Friday 16 February 2007 at 10:31Loadsa snow...Fantastic cover now throughout the Three Valleys, even the Jockeys black down to Le Praz is now officially open. Some high runs around Creux / Chanrossa still closed for safety but when the weather clears we reckon Jean Blanc will be the only piste closed in the Courchevel Valley and only the black Tetras and low Villages run will be closed in the whole of the Meribel Valley (unless they get the chance to work on them of course!). Wetter snow lower down as temps are fluctuating but snow showers set to continue over the next few days with the odd bit of sunshine in between. Go hard...Report issued by Toffa on Wednesday 14 February 2007 at 10:38More snow...Another good fall of snow last night with everything white once again this morning. Should be a decent amount of fresh up high! Off out there...Report issued by Carl on Monday 12 February 2007 at 08:472cms overnight then 10cms this morning in La TaniaFirst lift fairly quiet for a fresh snow day everyone thought it would not be that good.We made the effort and it just got better and better as the morning progressed. Jean Blanc, Mur,Chapelets and the old Stade were great and the trees above La Tania fantastic by 1pm.Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Thursday 08 February 2007 at 16:27Snow - a little later than expected...7pm and it's dumping - more soon!Report issued by Toffa on Wednesday 07 February 2007 at 19:22More Sun - but the snow is on it's waySunny days are causing hard pistes at the end of the day and some thin areas appearing. Get out early on the fresh corderoy for the best piste skiing. Over 90% of the ski area is open - even down to Le Praz has been opened now so ignore what the British media is saying. Meteo France (by far the most accurate weather site) is reporting snow down to 1200m tomorrow night / Wed morning - just in time for the February masses....Report issued by Toffa on Monday 05 February 2007 at 17:07More Sunny DaysGreat piste skiing but some hard patches developing in busy traffic areas. Looks like Sun for the next 3 days then hopefully some snowy weather moving in around the middle of next week. Don't forget the sun cream!Report issued by Toffa on Friday 02 February 2007 at 19:10Piste Cruising at it's BestAfter 2 consecutive days of skiing over to and around Val Thorens in sunny weather with fantastic pistes (even the traditional icy runs down in to Meribel and Mottaret seemed ok) we really "did" Courchevel today. 1650 was as usual fairly quiet with wide open groomed pistes to carve at ridiculous speeds, the pisted runs above 1850 skied superbly too. There are a few icy spots in busy traffic areas and on a few tracks but generally the skiing is rather fantastic with even some nice soft off piste still worth playing on in the trees above La Tania and 1650. All in all another great day on the mountain - the reported death of the ski industry by the UK media seems to be a bit premature....Report issued by Toffa on Monday 29 January 2007 at 17:13Fantastico.............No updates for a while 'cos skiing from 9 to 5 each day. Blinding day today, not a cloud in the sky, real cold and fresh and piste skiing as good as it gets. From Courchevel to VT we;ve had an absolute blast today and the first tracks down the groomed sloped in to Meribel this morning was like skiing on velvet - well worth the Australian Day hangover to get first lift this morning.... All in All One Great Day...........Report issued by Toffa on Saturday 27 January 2007 at 22:21Everything back to normalFresh tracks everywhere again today from Saulire down to Cote 2000 above Mottaret off piste all the way followed by Lac De Lou and all places in between. It really is that good and lovely cold temperatures but windy in Val Thorens. The pistes are fantastic and no queues. Snow cannons blasting away all over, the 3 Valleys are getting ready for February.Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Thursday 25 January 2007 at 22:38Freshies... High winds and rain to around 2000m today - a horrible day but things about to improve so keep the snow dance going...Report issued by David on Thursday 18 January 2007 at 21:57Fantastic piste conditions after a dusting of new snowPiste M and Chanrossa pisted last night giving some really good piste skiing. Resort runs open as always, mid station and above uncrowded with no queues at any lifts and in fantastic condition, off to the 4th Valley in the morning.Seems more like April than January but getting colder Sunday.Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Friday 12 January 2007 at 22:24Sunny with some high cloudSun makes a welcome return to LT. Most pistes in good nick although weather still a bit warm so snow feels a bit like spring stuff. Sun for next few days, temps hopefully dropping early next week.Report issued by ferg - ski deep on Wednesday 10 January 2007 at 09:51Grey wet old day todayFreezing level went shooting up to over 2000m last night and rain fell in resort although it is due to come down to around resort level in the next couple of days. This morning has grey cloud over the Col with intermittent rain down in La Tania, not a pleasant day. Snow cover for those venturing out is still pretty good though on the groomed runs and apart from a few little used drags only the Creux Noirs chair remains closed.Report issued by Phil the Van on Monday 08 January 2007 at 11:23and more snow...Currently snowing hard once again afer some blue sky this morning and fantastic skiing and boarding. Creux/Chanrossa and Le Praz areas still to open officially but all runs skiable just about everywhere. Green and Blue runs down in to La Tania open with great cover. Snow level dropped from 2200 overnight down to 1100 now and should drop to 700m tomorrow with snow continuing through wednesday and even thursday say Meteo France. That will cure a few nasty hangovers.Report issued by Ferg - ski deep on Monday 01 January 2007 at 14:51Pistes best early morningSome pistes becoming harder later in the day and icy / bare spots developing in heavy traffic areas but that said there is still masses of piste skiing with all the main links open around the Three Valleys. Chanrossa/Creux/Roc Merlot chairs still to open in Courchevel (1650 has the Pyramides drags open and links to 1850) and Olympic/Stade in Meribel still closed but good piste skiing to VT and back. La Tania runs all open down to the top Gondola station with red ok to the link with the Folyeres blue which has really good cover right down to resort thanks to the snow cannons, the Troika beginner lift in resort is also now open. Only Le Praz has no resort level runs open at the moment. Everything crossed for some snow on New Years Eve....Report issued by Carl on Friday 29 December 2006 at 09:53Folyeres open along with around 80% of the 3 Valleys RunsAll main points open including Vallon, Masse,4th Valley and Caron. Roc de Tougne very good. The snow cannons are making it all possible with over 200 kilometres of runs covered and skiing well with some icy patches and harder packed later in the day.Believe it or not it is still possible to ski home on the green piste although it is closed due to very thin cover lower down but the top half is open and Folyeres is skiing well especially in the morning after pisting.Report issued by NICK NICKSKI on Tuesday 26 December 2006 at 18:35Pistes Improving With Cannoned SnowMore pistes now opening and masses of snow cannoned snow has been produced in the low temperatures. Skiing down in to Meribel from the Ronnie after the band at Happy Hour in the dark with a few drinks inside you is always a challenge but add in a white out of snow cannons really adds to the "fun". Another good day on the piste and Folyeres improving all the time - expect it to be (officially) open in the next day or so. Lac Bleu is now complete for easier access to Biollay from Chenus.Report issued by Toffa on Thursday 21 December 2006 at 08:53A Wonderful day to VYBlue skies and groomed pistes, with great skiing all the way to VT. A bit busier their but we ripped up some piste today. Only the odd slick patches about - some great skiing today...Report issued by Toffa on Wednesday 20 December 2006 at 02:27Folyeres closed but 95% of it skiing like a dreamAfter a great day on Saturday with some superb piste skiing with blue skies, empty slopes and smooth, groomed pistes (especially Creux and Saulire and decent runs down to Méribel and Méribel Village) Sunday was a warm, overcast day with low cloud and poor visibility most of the time. Snow had softened up considerably and quite a few more people were about which cut up the runs quite a bit. Chenus ripped down to 1850 when clouds moved every now and again. We didn't venture over to the far side of Mottaret today but good reports on the runs around Cote Brune on the way up to Val Thorens were heard in the pub tonight (although poor vis most of the time). The La Tania blue and red down to the top of the gondola (like mid-way down) are open, had fairly good cover and skied well. The Folyeres blue though the forest down to La Tania is still officially closed but those that ducked under the ropes experienced a wonderful run down after pisteurs had been working on the run all night - it's only the last 100 metres that have lost some cover but you can pick yourself down ok. According to some of the old school here it's because the ground has been so warm that stones haven't been forced to the surface and we were surprised how few of those awful scraping rock against ski/board noises we heard today. Some of the same runs in late April often feel like they're covered in gravel. A little covering of snow high up tonight and drizzle at resort level but nothing significant happening so far. Predictions for Christmas Eve/Day snow are what people are hanging on to at the moment. To sum up there's still some good and extensive skiing in the Three Valleys with surprisingly good cover on many pistes but it's still fairly quiet of course and the busy Christmas and New Year weeks do need some more snow or low temperatures to get the snow cannons working at full throttle. Some pistes such as Chanrossa, around the Creux bowl and high up above 1650 are groomed and prepared - looks like they're saving them for next week. A few people are moaning but those that get out there are generally having a good time - we all did today and it's certainly not as bad as some of the doom merchants are saying, there's been a lot worse starts to the season, so drop in and go hard.........Report issued by Toffa on Monday 18 December 2006 at 02:44Piste skiing is so much better than expectedSaulire and Creux groomed and spot on. Next few days nice and cold (down to -9), allez la neige.Report issued by Ferg - Ski Deep on Friday 08 December 2006 at 20:03Courchevel 1850 opening on SUNDAYLa Tania all white at the moment - only a covering but lots more high up. Snow forecast for Friday night - probably rain first. Temps may be higher next week but some decent skiing should be available over at 1850. Courchevel have announced they will open on SUNDAY (not Saturday) with Saulire, Verdons, Biollay and of course Chenus for access to the run down to La Tania (for those that will, and trust me, they will). All info subject to change of course and no news from the Méribel side yet but would expect decent skiing down to the mid-station on that side. Current view at 3pm Friday is you'll definately need rock hoppers to get back to La Tania but probably good to top of gondola or maybe even lower here at the minute. If we get as predicted Friday night though it might well be possible. It really did snow heavily yesterday but the ground still too warm so most melted quickly still thin cover down here and under 2 degrees at the minute we need those cannons on. Let it Snow.... Toffa & Nick SkiReport issued by Toffa on Thursday 07 December 2006 at 16:01Dumping it downTemperatures have dropped throughout the morning, now under 2 degrees and still falling. Snowing like mad at the moment and due to carry on well until this evening.Forecast looking very good with lots more heavy snowfalls down to the valley floor on and off until late Saturday. The first day at Courchevel on Saturday could be a classic one, at this rate we will be skiing back to La Tania which we normally do when Courchevel opens.Report issued by Nick Nickski on Wednesday 06 December 2006 at 13:35Snow IS ForecastLots of people getting a bit over concerned re the lack of snow down to resort level and things have been a bit late this year. High up things are looking whiter and the rain in resort has at least been falling as snow at altitude. The good news is that most of the forecasting models are predicting a change in the systems and it will finally start to get colder from tomorrow - plus snow showers and hopefully more at the weekend with the freezing level dropping below the resort and the chance for some serious snow cannon work to get Folyeres built. Fingers crossed and do that snow dance but it'll come.... Let is snow, Toffa.Report issued by Toffa on Tuesday 05 December 2006 at 22:53Rain in resort - snow higher up?The snow at resort level didn't last long but that often happens at this time of year - hopefully there's snow higher up and it's still white at Courchevel 1850. The very mild temps have meant snow cannons low down haven't been used yet - expect that to change later in the week with colder temps forecast and the home run piste will be built. No need to worry yet, everything can change in a day...Report issued by Carl on Wednesday 29 November 2006 at 14:01At least 15cms overnightFirst main snow of the winter, the snow ploughs are out in La Tania.Val Thorens opens this weekend according to the local radio. The tree runs absolutely fabulous. A bit wet low down but awesome skiing in prospect when the weather clears.Report issued by Toffa on Saturday 04 March 2006 at 12:46Snowing....Cloudy, overcast day with light snowfall. Set to get heavier this afternoon as this weather front comes over. It certainly feels like a day when it's better to be inside, cold and the snow set in to continue all day. Some pistes were becoming hard so this has come just at the right time.Report issued by Toffa on Tuesday 28 February 2006 at 09:36Sunny day, blue skies, great pistesAnother great day in the Sunshine although still staying very cold high up - needed a hat on. Some hard and icy patches on steeper pistes and heavy traffic areas but all runs and lifts open (even Grand Couloir and the long La Tania drag!) and in the main offering great piste skiing.Report issued by Toffa on Sunday 26 February 2006 at 19:23Fantastic piste skiing lovely sunny day and some great first tracksEverything back to normal conditions after last weekends snow falls. Let's hope it doesn't turn to rain...Report issued by Toffa on Wednesday 15 February 2006 at 18:53Pistes ok, more snow neededSome good piste skiing on offer but more snow is needed, stones strewn around some of the higher areas and lower down offering the best skiing.Report issued by Ali on Tuesday 14 February 2006 at 09:54A little bit more snow....Only a covering in resort really but up to 6 inches at the summits should freshen the pistes up. It's very welcome and there could be some more next week.Report issued by Toffa on Thursday 09 February 2006 at 22:16It's snowingStarted snowing again at last - long may it continue...Report issued by Toffa on Wednesday 08 February 2006 at 19:09Lovely sunny day with some glorious piste skiingOnly a small handful of runs closed in the whole 3 Valleys, we have over 120 miles of runs with snow making machines, more than the total of most resorts and they are in superb condition with fresh snow made evey night. Some of the other runs hard in places with occasional stones showing through. Off the side of the pistes you can find some superb grippy snow and enough moguls to keep everyone happy.Report issued by Nick Nickski on Saturday 04 February 2006 at 17:25Sunny piste skiingStill good on-piste skiing available if you time your runs right. Lower 1650, 1550 and Meribel runs still ok when the sun is on them for an hour or so (and Folyeres still good with only the odd hard patch). Worth getting your skis edged for the hard pack high up and most black steep stuff is very thin. Off piste is cruddy in the main. Sunny for the next couple of days but maybe some snow Monday.Report issued by Toffa on Thursday 02 February 2006 at 15:08Sunny but WindyHard pack and wind swept on upper slopes. Snow didn't really happen over the weekend. Some lovely groomed pistes lower down though. Some top lifts restricted due to winds.Report issued by Toffa on Sunday 29 January 2006 at 10:28It's snowing!and more forecast for the weekend. Pistes do need freshening up so this is welecome!Report issued by Snowman2 on Thursday 26 January 2006 at 20:42another beautiful but cold sunny daythe cold and sunny conditions (-6 in Tania this morning) are helping to keep the pistes in top condition (with some work from the piste bashers), slopes still nice and quiet, more sun forecast for next 3 days, a joy to ski and deals still to be had.Report issued by ferg - skideep.net on Tuesday 24 January 2006 at 00:31Sunny day and the best powder day of the season so far.First tracks down Chanrossa and off the side of the Courchevel bowl, at least half a metre of fanastic powder. All the pistes in superb condition and all totally uncrowded.Almost as good as it ever gets.Report issued by Nick of Nickski on Thursday 19 January 2006 at 13:50A foot of fresh!A foot of fresh at the top, pistes all freshened up with around 6 inches of new snow in the resort. It's arrived just in time as some pistes were becoming very hard packed and worn in the heavy traffic areas. Should be some great skiing and boarding when the weather clears!Report issued by Amy on Wednesday 18 January 2006 at 21:51snowing, about -2 c, good looking flakesstarted snowing late afternoon, still light snowfall now but set to continue all day tuesday and maybe wednesday morning. (nearly)Great skiing continues with every lift in the entire Courchevel and Meribel Ski Area is now running even the little used long La Tania drag Gros Murger is open. Only 2 runs officially closed in Courchevel - the Belges and Grand Couloir black runs down from Saulire. Loks like it's quietening right down now too... Time for Shibboleth then!Report issued by Andy on Saturday 07 January 2006 at 15:45Huge Powder Day under La Tania chairlift awesomeAt least 30cms of fresh snow overnight, fresh tracks all round La Tania and Courchevel. January will be a great time to ski here.Report issued by Nick of Nickski on Sunday 01 January 2006 at 13:20Heavy snow at last after Arctic conditions for the last 4 daysShould be an awesome powder day tomorrow, lay off the booze tonight for the 9am lift.We will be there, Pocket Rockets waxed and ready !!!Report issued by Nick of Nickski on Friday 30 December 2005 at 17:05
Lots of snow, lots now openJust about all of the Courchevel Valley is now open except for the Creux / Chanrossa chairs areas and the steeper blacks (M, the coulours and the Le Praz blacks). Another sunny day in prospect and the pistes becoming harder in busier areas, still seems quiet though. Kat xxx
