Next bout of snow coming next week?

Looking like a decent storm coming across Monday / Tuesday should bring some snow high up at least. Maybe not cold enough for much at resort level but still far to early for that really.

Update 3/11: Local Meteo France weather forecasts are now saying rain due to turn to snow down to 1200m (below resort level at 1400m) during Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Sunset Sons Gig Review – Barca, Tynemouth

IMG_0549.JPG

Sunset Sons UK tour hit Tynemouth last night with Rory, Jed, Pete & Rob rocking a sold out Barca – set list below plus there were a couple of covers thrown in including Jamie T’s Sticks n Stones.

The biggest song of the gig, was left until last with On The Road from their self-financed debut EP Le Surfing released at the start of the year. Nights playing as The Cheerleaders in La Tania seem a long, long time ago now!

Since then of course they’ve been signed to Polydor Records, played Leeds & Reading festivals, have been recording in Nashville and are getting plenty of air play on Radio One and XFM of their new single Remember, title track of the new No Bad Days EP released today 26 October 2014 and on iTunes here: https://itun.es/gb/N8FU2

There are still some dates with tickets available on the rest of the tour and maybe they’ll not be too famous to play back in La Tania this Winter? Quiet slopes and great snow in January boys….

Hope you managed to catch some waves in Tynemouth before the Manchester gig tonight.

All The Snow Pics – All white down to La Tania this morning!

One month today and Val Thorens opens for Winter 2015!

There’ll be plenty of snowy pictures this morning as today’s storm passes through. Looks like the more Northern and Eastern Alps are getting the most snow and it won’t last long as clearer, milder weather returns towards the end of the week.

Great to see though, and remember it’s only October – although first snow of the season was technically 10 July and some on 25 September! More here…

All the pics going up here as it gets light….

A blip in the mild weather with snow Tuesday night?

After hitting 23 degrees in the valleys this weekend with southerly winds being pulled up by the massive low pressure system crossing the Atlantic (and some cracking surf in spots sheltered from the wind was generated) a complete change is on the cards. GFS models now all fairly consistent on showing this cold spell – top lines are temperatures, bottom lines are precipitation from different Global Forecasting Systems.

Cold air will be dragged down from the North with temperatures plummeting for a couple of days as the front crosses the Alps with significant snowfall expected in the Northern Alps. It may pass a bit too far North and East to hit La Tania much but a good chance we could see everything white for a few hours early on Wednesday morning! Mild weather looks like it will return towards the end of the week however.

3 Valleys 2015 Piste Map with the 5 new Lifts – The Differences Animated

The 5 new lifts for 2015 are now marked on the 2015 edition of the 3 Valleys Piste Map.

A couple of minor new pistes and freeride areas plus the Escapade icons have been removed. Not sure if the Escapade is being discontinued or not as yet (and we hope it wasn’t our fault for starting the doing it in a day craze!).

Another Wedding Born in La Tania

Congratulations to DJ and Amy! DJ & Amy met at the Rond Pont on their chalet day off in 2006 when DJ was working for Ski Magic as resort manager and Amy as a host for Ski Amis. Both have returned to La Tania every year since their seasons and both still assist with the running of Charity Day annually. A wedding born in La Tania !
