La Tania green run now groomed & cannons firing on Folyeres

Slope preparation in La Tania is now well in to gear with the cannons blasting away on the blue Folyeres piste all day today and the first grooming of the green Plan Fontaine taking place.

With all that natural snow plus the very cold temperatures (as cold as -14C last night) a really decent base can get made (and it’s still only November!).

Thanks to Nick Ski for the pic after hiking up there this morning. More pics on his facebook page here

Snow Cannons Blasting Away This Morning at -11C

-11C this morning in La Tania and the snow cannons blazing away creating mounds of snow for the piste bashers to create that solid base low down. More snow looks forecast for Saturday.

Worth watching once again, 1 minute of pics & video from free Courchevel Preview Day

Nick Ski and Ski Dazzle from La Tania are first down Suisses when everybody else just headed for the Saulire bowl.

NICK SKI SNOW REPORT COURCHEVEL 23.11.13

20131123-145438.jpg

For the first time in at least 12 seasons Courchevel has opened the lifts 2 weeks earlier than planned albeit for one day only but free to all. You can see why because every piste in the Couchevel 1850 bowl has been groomed and is ready to ski and links to La Tania are of course possible. Only Verdons and Saulire lifts were open today and only Combe de Saulire and Verdons pistes however we were first down Suisses on bottomless powder. We were on the first gondola and then first cable car and after Suisses it was getting busier and our second descent was down Marmottes, more powder on an empty piste, everyone must have been on Combe de Saulire. It’s a great start to the season and snow canons blasting away as well to build up the base. The cold weather looks set to continue for the week which is good for the snow canons. See you on the slopes, Nick www.nickskithreevalleys.co.uk

Another 6 inches of snow down to resort. VT Opening Day!

And the snow continues, with more snow down to low levels and staying cold. Val Thorens opening day today with the Peclet and Cascades lifts the first to open. Progressive opening and should be plenty more (avalanche control permitting) by the originally scheduled opening on Saturday 23 Nov.

The Courchevel special free opening “preview” day this Saturday should see some great skiing and boarding on the Saulire area. With all this snow we do wonder if they will really keep everything closed then until 7 Dec.
