Mums Protest in Bozel about School Dinners…

Mums fighting for their right to have canteen places for their kids.

A lot have been refused a place which means families who work have to pick up the kids at lunch every day and take them back after. The community is upset in the awful handling by the Mairee and the unfairness of their decisions. It became very violent but luckily I was there to restore order.!

Bye Bye Cretes, Col de la Loze, Praz Juget & a bit of Bouc Blanc

Latest on the new lifts (and removal of the old ones)…

With the new Bouc Blanc chair opening in December this year and construction of the new Foret chair up from Le Praz now under way (but not expected until December 2014 as far as we know), the removal of the old Cretes and Col de la Lze chairs has begun along with the Praz Juget drag.

The Bouc Blanc drag has also been shortened – more info on these and the other developments at

Removal of the old very slow 2-man Col de la Loze chair (the same route down Bouc Blanc and up Dou Des Lanches chair is much quicker even for a relatively slow skier).

The massive La Tania Charity Day (now renamed 3 Valleys Charity Day) in aid of Cancer charities in the UK and France takes place in April every year.

There’s fancy dress, live bands, a BBQ, outside bar, raffles, auctions, silly games, Harley Davidson rides, the annual egg eating competition, the Saisonnaires poll winners and The Charity Ball.

Now taking place in Meribel Village for a safer, more organised event with more room and security.

The total amount raised on Charity Day is split between the Sebastian’s Action Trust and the Ligue Nationale Contre le Cancer – around €150,000 has been raised by the locals, workers, businesses and visitors since it’s  inception back in 2002 inspired by saisonnaire Dan Provost in memory of his mother.

Courchevel Air Show at The Summer Ski Jumping World Cup

airshow

Thanks to Snow Retreat for the pic from The Summer Ski Jumping World Cup event taking place today and tomorrow in Le Praz. Lots more than the jump too with air show displays, acrobatic high wire, fun fair, Falconry displays, base jumping and of course the beer tent…

The Ski Jumping is pretty spectacular too with men & women taking part and landing on long, wet astroturf type material with a loud smack as the skis hit the ground. Only for the brave (or daft) real men and women going hard…

Great video here including a helmet cam shot to show what it’s really like:
