The New Plan du Vah Piste Markers in Courchevel Spotted
The new Plan du Vah piste markers in Courchevel have been installed.
This new run starts at the bottom of the red Creux piste (the run all the way from the top of Saulire over the back and right down the valley past Chanrossa to the Roc Mugnier / Gravelles lifts) at Prameruel / Fruit Junction and goes down the valley towards the main road between 1650 and 1850.
Ultimately we understand it will continue across the road and down to near the new Aquatic Centre at Courchevel 1550.
Pic below shows our guesstimate of this new blue run and the ultimate route down towards 1550 in black.

La Tania in the New 2012/2013 Season Ski & Snowboard Mag
Twelve years of enjoying the hospitality of The Ski and Snowboard Show have finally paid off…
In the new season Ski & Snowboard Magazine (October 2012) on Page 11 we see La Tania locals Cus and Claire with a drink in their hand from the show at least a couple of years ago – probably Aspall Cider if we remember rightly and before we discovered the Jäger truck… I think Cus was in bed by 6pm that day too!
We’ll all be there at the London Ski and Snowboard Show (previously known as The Daily Mail or Metro Ski Show) at Earls Court 2, for the La Tania reunion as ever in the main bar from mid afternoon on Saturday 3 November 2012 – a little later to coincide with half term this year. Note there is no 3 Valleys Resort Bar this year, they’re building new lifts instead but no doubt there’ll be another resort bar area to enjoy!

Courchevel name changed to Courcheval-la Tania (according to Apple)
After the official renaming of the Courchevels this year it look like the new Maps on Apples IOS6 and then new iPhone 5 (replacing Google Maps) have renamed Courchevel to Courcheval-la Tania.
Courcheval is occasionally seen as an alternative spelling to the more widely used Courchevel but Meribel becoming Meribel Brides-les-Bains and Les Allues / Saint Bon in strange positions too…
Note that the usual Piste Maps have South at the top.
Apple IOS6 Maps using TomTom data amongst others.
Google Maps – La Perriere (La Tania’s owners) only gets a mention at this zoom level.
The official renaming of the villages is as follows:
Courchevel 1850 – Courchevel.
Courchevel 1650 – Courchevel Moriond.
Courchevel 1550 – Courchevel Village.
Courchevel 1300 (Le Praz) – Courchevel Le Praz.
Although some people aren’t to happy with the changes as this pic from June 2012 shows (now replaced with a more vandalised proof easy swap out signs).
La Tania really does remain La Tania by the way – As someone one said on TV “La Tania isn’t Courchevel, La Tania is La Tania”.
P.S. Web App version of Google Maps works fine and free Street View App is available too – so no big deal despite the media hysteria on Apple’s big mistake…

3 Valleys Charity Day 2013 – confirmed date is Wed 10 April
The 3 Valleys Charity Day 2013 is on Wednesday 10th April. The massive 3 Valleys Charity Day is in aid of Charities in the UK and France. The event previously held in La Tania has now been relocated to Meribel Village to be bigger, better, safer & friendlier than ever.
In 2012 we donated 10,000 Euros to the Sebastian’s Action Trust holiday home offering respite breaks in the Hampshire countryside to families of children with serious, life-limiting or life-threatening medical conditions.
A further 16,000 Euros was shared between our designated French charities that include Ligue Nationale Contre le Cancer and Club Des Sports.
There will be fancy dress, live bands, a BBQ, an outside bar, raffles, auctions, silly games, Harley Davidson rides, a VIP lounge area with hot tub , the annual egg eating competition, a Miss Charity Day beauty contest and plenty of other cool stuff.

New Ski School operating in La Tania this Winter – Snow Limits
Welcome to Snow Limits Ski School operating out of La Tania and Courchevel this Winter with Sam Burrows. Sam can not only ski a bit but can be seen singing and playing guitar with partner in crime Pat on Thursday Après Ski at La Taiga bar in La Tania and around The 3 Valleys (when he’s not watching football on TV).

The blast of Winter didn’t last long. Back to 30C at the weekend!
After the first snow of Winter 2013 arrived on Friday there’s some stormy weather about but looks like it’s back to 25C to 30C by the weekend. It’s Weather, that’s all… But snow capped mountains look absolutely beautiful next to green grass, pine forest and deep blue skies.
