Morning Toffa!
It’s been a while since I felt the need to get on my soapbox but at 07:06 the other morning there was a tiny catalyst which sparked some ranting inspiration…!
Although I’m relatively unaffected by the new municipal building being constructed practically in Tim Wall’s front garden, I know there’s been complaints that the builders feel compelled to bang their hammers and spades at 06:45 each morning. The Marie report’s that this is because “they’re on a tight schedule” and the building must be finished for the winter season. All very well and good if they didn’t stop work each day for a ‘French style’ lunch break and then disappear home at 16:00…?! So onto my issue…
There has always been an problem with convenient parking in La Tania. Should the chalet staff need to whizz down to the supermarket when they’re in desperate need for some secret ingredient just before dinner then they’re often confronted with the situation that there’s nowhere to park. Likewise when people arrive in resort on a busy Saturday afternoon, there’s nowhere to park for a few minutes needed to locate their chalet. Hence the necessity for a car park extension outside my bedroom window! There’s no question about need there… No arguments from me!
However…In Summer this is a beautiful and peaceful place – So why did the powers that be decide that extending the car park right in the middle of the summer season was a good idea?!!!
At 07:06 this morning the world’s largest noise making machine did its thing… closely followed by JCBs and lorry after lorry! The many holiday makers overlooking the construction site have surely come here to enjoy the peace and tranquillity that the resort usually has to offer?!
I’m very happy to see so much investment in resort as it highlights the future success of the area but why oh why do the town council never look at this beautiful place as a possible summer destination as well as the fantastic winter resort that it is? Please Mrs Mayor… spare a thought for the many tourists who keep our village alive in the summer… and keep it down when they’re here to enjoy the peace and quiet!!!
I’m off to stick a spoke in the digger’s wheel… and my finger in the foreman’s eye!!! Next year all should be fine… Please come and see us to enjoy all that La Tania has to offer outside of the winter months… I promise you won’t regret it!!! Although there are still no plans available for inspection of the proposed Chalets in front of the Grand Bois – residents understandably worried about losing their view – is this not sorted out before planning permission is granted (or bought?).
