Nickski Snow Report, La Tania

Fabulous conditions. A few cm of snow overnight freshening everything up and fresh tracks all over 1650. Glorious sunshine and blue skies but very very cold, about minus 13 in La Tania this morning. Wrap up well.

Snow!

Snowed all night Friday and through in to Saturday. At least 20cm down
in resort, much more high up and drifting in the strong winds. Another
poor transfer day for many today but should be great when this storms
over. Avalanche risk off-piste bound to be high so take care everyone.

This weeks video snow report will be up on Monday hopefully.

Latest updates on the snow and what’s happening in resort are in the
La Tania Ski Blog  (now mobile friendly) at www.latania.co.uk/blog

A covering of fresh snow but more tonight and tomorrow

Meribel centre this morning from the Merinet.com webcam. More snow
coming down toniight and through tomorrow, staying cold all next week
too.

Snow and whiteout

Snow and whiteout
The conditions were testing today, with a mixture of low cloud, poor visibility and then some patches of sunshine.
This did not however deter Eric from Magic taking us to the Cure Couloir this afternoon. We carefully made our way to the Grand Couloir, through the misty gloom then hiked up into the Cure. Once in the couloir the visibility improved and the snow was good, not exactly fresh powder, but a great ski. Back on the piste, we caught the lift back to La Tania, and came down via the off piste through the trees. Heavily tracked, but still some fresh powder in places, the cloud lifted as we made our way home to LT What a great place to be!

More fresh snow is on the way…

Looks like a little new snow tonight and tomorrow plus the chance of a
decent amount in to the beginning of next week. Should freshen things up
nicely and it’s staying nice and cold but getting very cold by the middle of
next week according to several forecast – a bit too far out to be sure
though.

Nick Ski Snow Report

First bubble and it was a bit gloomy but the sun was trying to get out by
the time we got to Roc Tania. Great skiing on the tree lined pistes down to
Meribel Village and then up to Trois Marches where Nick promised us the sun
and there it was. Great example of the Mer de Nuage / Cloud Lake. Just shows
that it’s always worth a look up there. Pistes great and Nick still finding
himself some freshies…

Lenticular Cloud

From the village it might have looked cloudy and gloomy up there but we came out of the cloud/fog to a glorious sunny day (see snow report to follow).
You can see the cloud lower down on Creux and this nice example of a lenticular cloud.
