Cloudy, light snow high up
————————
Poor vis in places but some cracking piste skiing. Finished with a race down to Meribel Village and all lived to tell the tale…..Happy Birthday T. Wall…..

Sun continues – but snow on the way
————————
Sunny weather has led to some pistes becoming hard and worn in their busy traffic areas (especially at the end of the day) but the vast majority of pistes are still in excellent condition. Weather set to change with new snow fall expected by the end of the week.

Congrats to James Shail from La Tania who won Rossignol skis for being the fastest non-instructor in the Natives Meribel Workers Challenge on Wednesday. Truly going hard…
There are not many independents left…
Salomon, Atomic, Dynamic
Quicksilver own:
Dynastar, Rossignol, Lange, Roxy
Tecnica own:
Tecnica, Blizzard, Nordica
K2 own:
K2, Line, Marker, Volkl, Armada
I reckon that leaves these….
Head, Line, Fischer, Scott, Elan and Kastle (now rescued from Benetton).
Then there are some smaller independent, highly specialist brands such as Liberty, Wagner, Lokomotiv, Goode, 4Frnt and Zai.
Finally there’s the designer labelled ski and boards available in Courchevel 1850 from the likes of Prada, Chanel, Versace and Lacroix (a pair of the latter owned by a certain La Tania entrepreneur – they ski pretty well too!).
Any more to add?
SNOWING ALL DAY
————————
Snow started early morning.Four of us had the first fresh tracks down Folyeres then ventured to Jean Blanc which we were still the only tracks on after our second run. Then off to Mur still freshies at the side.Incredibly windy even at the top of Gravelles chair and very unpleasant at the top of Plantrey

Seems this is being renamed the Salomon X-Wing Discovery rather than the Escapade and is to only have 10 check points rather than the original 14 – and as no trip to the top of La Masse or the 4th Valley is required it’s fairly easy for a decent intermediate skier to complete in a day.
We’re not sure why the changes have happened yet, but we’ll still compete on the original course (photos and/or GPS data required for verification of the 4 remaining check points).
In any case the record time of 7 hours 34 mins is set to be smashed this week. Nick from Nick Ski has a plan…. Full report and pics to follow by the end of the week. Good luck all and Go Hard!!!
