Back to Sun but bitterly cold

Top of the Chanrossa chair which was closed first thing due to more high winds causing thin cover on exposed areas. Several "Few Snow" signs appearing on the affected areas but most major pistes still with excellent cover with the odd icy spots and some hard pack (fast) around. Looks like the high pressure won out and sun for the next few days. . . .

Cloudless blue skies once again but looks like a change coming on Christmas Day afternoon. Clouds set to return but temps dropping too and the chance of some snow by the weekend.
Pistes remain in good shape with just about everything open. The odd stone on exposed areas but generally everything very good.

Great Piste Skiing
So the snow didn't arrive in the quantities we expected and the really strong winds have stripped lots of the exposed off piste but with the sunshine just breaking through today and still the high lifts off because of the wind we saw some superb piste skiing. The runs down Chenus to 1550 were simply perfect corduroy and very, very quiet - great for fast, wide carving. La Tania Bouc Blanc and Folyeres were also in brilliant condition, groomed and very quiet. We also headed down Brigues, the red run down to Le Praz - although officially closed it was groomed most of the way down and another terrific run. Those who were out today have stopped moaning now - another great day on the mountains.....
Troika Working!
At last S3V have got their act together and opened the free beginners lift Troika in the centre of resort. Pressure from Chalet owners and the ESF finally paid off. Lots more lifts open today and Three Valleys links open once again after wind has reduced. The pisteurs report that they measured a 180km gust on Sunday - a tree came down over the Loze drag in 1850, many sign posts were damged and the huge banner / canvas type area signs were simple ripped apart - very scary... Off piste in high and exposed areas has been stripped of snow (it all ended up in Tignes we reckon) - unbelievable the difference a couple of days can make. More and more pistes getting groomed and prepared, still plenty of base so lots of piste skiing on offer. Folyeres and the run down to Meribel Billage were probably the best runs yesterday.

Windy!!!!
Very high winds today, lots of top lifts closed and everything shut in 1850 for a time. The La Tania gondola was of course open (nothing in Le Praz, 1550 or 1650) - one of the lifts that nearly always operates whatever the weather in The three Valleys. One drag and intermittent opening of the Lanches 4-man chair meant there was plenty of skiing available around La Tania - it is the greatest place.......... Summits are getting stripped of snow (off piste) with the high winds but there is light snow falling now at 3:30pm and some more expected.

Great Snow, Great Times
Perfect corduroy, great weather, loads of powder between pistes - a fantastic La Tania opening day. Then add in a great lunch down in 1650 at La Boillet - Katie on great form as usual - and special times with good friends all makes a perfect day.... More snow on the way later today and probably all day Monday, the cover for pre-Christmas skiing really is exceptional, could do with a few more lifts open though - only the bubble open on the 1650 side of the mountain for example but plenty of great skiing above 1850 and La Tania available.

*** La Tania Locals - Snow Report Update ***
Toffa
Great Snow, Great Times
Perfect corduroy, great weather, loads of powder between pistes - a fantastic La Tania opening day. Then add in a great lunch down in 1650 at La Boillet - Katie on great form as usual - and special times with good friends all makes a perfect day.... More snow on the way later today and probably all day Monday, the cover for pre-Christmas skiing really is exceptional, could do with a few more lifts open though - only the bubble open on the 1650 side of the mountain for example but plenty of great skiing above 1850 and La Tania available.
